As you can see, it's a Rebel SSD.

Bleeeh. Why would FFG sell a single multi-faction ship when they could sell two different ones?

Give me the canon counter, a certain A-wing ace named Arvel Crynyd, or the Starhawk-class battleship Amity and/or Concord ;)

Unlike lumbering capital ships, the starfighters you find in X-Wing Second Edition are nimble craft that scream across the battlefield.

this technically counts as mentioning armada

X-Wing has a 2nd edition!?

Oh, man, I wish they'd have mentioned something about that before!

What really stumps me is that FFG would take the time to reboot that game, before taking this amazing license and doing some kind of skirmish ground combat game? They should get on that! Maybe write an article letting us know they are at least working on one or something...

I have a knack for falling in love with games that fall by the way side... I hope that Armada is not starting to taste like the Specialist Games from GW...

- Got into Epic Space Marine back in the days which quickly became one of GW's black sheep

- Got into Battlefleet Gothic which we know where that went.

- Loved Man O War which died before it was born.

- I even dabbled in Warmaster which had a life span of 10 minutes...

I'm such a loser, I should play 40K and Xwing!

If that makes you to feel better, I heavily invested in Star Wars Starship Battles from WoC...

My excuse is that there was no other game about Capital Ships in Star Wars Universe before it.

Fun fact, i can't see most of the gif's people link because work and firewalls and whatnot with imgur. BUT, i semi figured out a trick where i google the filename and a lot of times it'll show me a thumbnail of said gif. in this case there were two possibilities: "Ya'll MF's need slannash" which i didn't think matched particularly well

or: "Dorito Samurai" which if that was it you're my hero.

Darned if I'm just going to quietly let them trash talk their best miniatures game in favor of a new X-wing edition...

Still have 4 or 5 armies for Epic Space Marine stashed away in 4 tackle boxes in my basement. Pull it out to play once ever few years. Usually I can snag a few peices at Origins game con. Last year I came home with more Squats than Armada stuff. Weird how FFG avoids that con like the plague.

Yeah, but Origins is one of the top 5 in the country for attendance, and they don't even get a booth! Even 2 years ago when they held Nationals there, (out of the blue), they had no booth in the exhibit hall. I know they were unimpressed with the attendance for that Nationals, but they went from zero Armada or FFG presence, to a holding Nationals there to nothing. ****, last year I could only find a single R&V pack in a tiny vendor booth!

I did too. It was not a good game.

My current wife asked me to give a good long look at my collection of possessions, and asked me to make some hard choices.

Legos, D&D books, and video games stayed, while little plastic spaceship toys that no one played but me got the boot.

Yeah, game was terrible. I played a little bit with Full Thrust and Battlefleet Gothic rules and it was OK. Then, when Armada was released I sold it.

NPD isn't just trends and research. They collect survey data from retailers/point-of-sale.

I'd wager Asmodee/FFG have reliable sales data.

1. NPD data is garbage.

They can back in shipment data I am sure, but its not reliable sales data on the POS side. I deal with this as a retail manufacture myself its a bit of statistics, market research and reading tea leaves. It's not always accurate. Plus you tend to weigh heavily on data you collect on your own then what others provide for you when weighing it out because your more likely to trust your systems and collection than others.

This.

Furthermore, we're all assuming that whatever FFG/Asmodee does is based of of some kind of numbers-based rational-decision-making. The first thing any analysts learns working in the business world is that your work only matters when it supports what the leadership committee's plans are. Just because Armada may be performing well in sales doesn't mean they give a **** about it's future. ****, Armada in their view might be standing in the way of more success in X-Wing. Imagine if they could cut loose all the resources attached to Armada and the production time given up to its manufacturing and roll it into making more Tie Fighters.

I thought you guys might have broken the forums after they posted the Legion article and the forums were down.

Well, if people can spend $150 on 3 conversion kits for X-Wing Miniatures 2nd Edition, we can have a Super Star Destroyer and some other huge ships. They would be the Epic ships for Star Wars Armada :P
