I think what makes it so is the perspective from those on that side who who feel this is an accusation of their beliefs, especially so if that's not how they identify. A comment like that could be used to imply that belief structure is the cause of said "Nazis".

Similar to not all "Insert religion" are terrorists, but all terrorists seem to be "Insert religion".

It's best to steer away from that crap here. Leave that for facebook, mate.

The only politics we should be discussing is why it was good our glorious chancellor swept away the corruption of the senate and reformed the Republic into the first Galactic Empire!

Long live Sheev! Glory to the Imperium!

It is the duty of all good sentients to stand up to despots and tyrants. Liberty or Death... FOR THE REPUBLIC!

That boggles my mind. It's like people can't stand others pointing out aspects of the truth to them. "you may not be a potato, but you seem to have voted for the same person that all of those potatoes voted for so...think long and hard on that".

Eh? "general discussion thread". Go start the 432 thread on what shade of gray the Braha'tok flotilla should be.

Your Republic only breeds disorder and anarchy where the Empire establishes peace and stability.

I'd like this thread to stick around and not be removed thanks, so keep the politics to a minimum.

On the Braha'tok colour topic, it's a reddish-tan colour in Rebels.

Yes, there is much peace in Death. That is what your Empire excels at. How many non combatants died at Jedha? How many innocents were vaporized on Alderaan? Even your loyal citizens on Scarif couldn’t escape the bloody grasp of you’re corpse emperor. How many more worlds will it take to Quench his thirst.

A system, no matter how corrupt can be fixed. Death cannot.

Perspective determines reality. Everything is interpreted. I don't think that anyone fails to understand the perspective reality of their position, but rather reject the implications accusations like that make. People are a total of everything they've ever done, and no one alive is completely blameless. (at least no one I've met). This becomes even more true for people who have found their way to positions of power or influence. Just because they're not perfect, or that people with villainous beliefs support the same person, shouldn't vilify that person.

Comments like that are very dangerous in the long term. They are quick to polarize. Your enemy should be less "man who voted for the same person as the potatoes" and more "what created the divide that pushed him to do so?"

Jedha City was destroyed in a mining disaster. Why would you list that? As for Scarif, a catastrophe claimed the lives of enlisted Imperials. Do not use their heroic sacrifice to fuel your political agenda. They would be horrified.

Because Rebels engage in baseless slander, just to make any excuse to bring their corrupt republic back.

Creating moral equivalencies justifying those actions is just as dangerous though. saying "well this person did x because y" suggests that y only exists because of X or that the two are somehow the equivalent. Everyone has a responsibility in their actions and their actions should be held accountable on individual basis, not justified though excuses.

'Twas a military sponsored mine, no? Had there been no military, there would have been no disaster.

Imperial lies and propaganda. Rebel informants have reported the Death Star in orbit, and a similar energy emmision hitting Jedha City as the one at Scarif at the same time as this so called “mining disaster.” This information has even reached the imperial senate.

I'm so getting like 3 more warnings from this thread because I keep talking about "potatoes".

They were involved in a famine in Ireland. People are still touchy. :D

I'm pretty sure a lot of bothans are going to suffer from that.

A catastrophic betrayal by their own government.

Fun Fact: I have a sign from an old bar in STL that still had it's "No Irish" policy back in the early 1900's.

Edit: Ugh, that's near unreadable.

"I went to a bar in STL that still had a sign that said "No Irish" from when the policy existed back in the 1900's, I asked nicely and they gave me the sign".

Hopefully that's better.

Well, of course a "high energy emission" was detected. It kinda takes high energy for a city to be annihilated. I'd say it's an understandable mistake to confuse a high-power mining laser with the Imperial Planetary Ore Extractor... but I suspect your motives are impure.

Again... They were Imperial forces. Each and every one of our enlisted men and woman are willing to sacrifice everything for the good of the Empire - something a Rebel would never understand.

That was no mining laser.

Of course we can’t understand sacrificing everything for a evil empire. We are more than willing to sacrifice everything for a government of the people and for the people.
