... I mean, on the "leader" thing...

If your criteria for that is "be a prolific poster, and share information as you see it promptly and factually.",

then by that measure, AdmiralNelson would be a community leader...

and, as much as the cynical Australian in me would enjoy that Irony, I don't think that's going to happen :)

I think if there were to be a democratic system set in place to select a committee, that might work....That way the community is selecting there decision makers...

I am really not sure how we could call anyone at all community leader if we don't include Dras as one.

I would agree with that in part. But part of the problem we have with modern democracy, is who decides upon the group of decision makers ?

If the floor is open to everyone , then you open yourself to the risk that you will vote for people who just won't do anything .

If the floor is open to only those who nominate, then you will have people who state, quite openly, that the decisions do not apply to them, because they do not agree with anyone on board.

etc, etc, etc.

Like I said, I tend to plan for anger and disappointment, these days... Not for Success :)

Well, you could open the floor to nominations, excluding nominations for ones self. Then, from a group of say 7-8, have folks vote for 5. Then the most votes get on the committee. Then, those nominated that don't want to serve, can step down and the next person gets the position. Obviously, there would have to be term limits.... :D

In my astute wisdom I have inferred the following from this thread:

  • Bothan Drasnighta has discovered that the Armada dev team has been fired and replaced with Emperor Michael Gernes
  • AdmiralNelson is our newly appointed community leader
  • Hanjin are really the Sith, and insist y ou dispense with the pleasantries. They are here to put you back on schedule.
  • Our spaceship X-Mas toys will not be under the tree this year
  • :(

Then hopefully, while we're buried in the minutae in working all of this out - the FAQ Drops on its own in the background and we go about business as usual :D

I AM STILL ALIVE

I HAVE FAILED AS A BOTHAN

Dras was not elected to watch his people suffer and die while you discuss this FAQ and Preview Article in a committee!

Also, on regards to the Topic at hand.

All due respect... why make a unofficial FAQ? It's not binding and lacks authority of any kind. I'm just not seeing how this helps anything other than just killing tim...ooohhh.

Now your getting it!

All due respect... why make a unofficial FAQ? It's not binding and lacks authority of any kind. I'm just not seeing how this helps anything other than just killing tim...ooohhh.

And now you see why it hasn't really progressed further than me just... Y'know.. Going and making an FAQ for my own group...

I killed a good few hours that day. But that's just because I made it all card-pretty.

The only potential 'good' it has, in the end, is attempting to filter some questions from having to go to FFG, instead letting them focus on other questions, and on FAQ generation. Kinda. Maybe.

Look, I'm trying to be positive here, but thinking hurts when you've got a concussion :P

I guess the first thing to do is see if there is a majority that even wants this. What should be our threshold for that?

Perhaps since leadership, authority, and consensus are difficulties in having an official unofficial FAQ, the community (or self appointed leaders) could get a sticky thread and publish a concise description of the questions and then provide 1+ rulings along with a concise description of the logic behind each ruling (taken from the thoughts/debates here on this forum). That way multiple voices would be heard in absence of official rulings and stuff is easy to find for those of us that occasionally TO.

The TO would know where to find the questions and debated rulings and pick the one they personally agree with (if there is more than 1). I think that is helpful.

Yeah we could do this if we had moderators to sticky a **** thread. Can we add moderators to the list of things we should have?

Ask and ye shall receive:

Anyhow, I added a good solid page worth of postings myself today. I've done my bit.

Wish I could go lie down. Feel like crap.
