Is one of those things why we don't have an FAQ 40+ days after release?
Yes.

Is it a much better reason then we are understaffed and haven't gotten around to it?

Well, I've been talking directly with someone somewhat-important at FFG over email last night/today... Nothing I can put forward to the public at the moment (at least, nothing I would feel comfortable doing).
But at least to me, it explains a few things.
(I guess People can read into my 'Redirect Token' reply post in the Rules Thread for some titbits)
You mean they've misplaced the articles, along with your e-mails? Or that they've misplaced their employees?
Dras that tells us nothing about the crisis at hand
Don't make us invade like last time.... Wait what? We got destroyed lest time?....... This still tells us nothing!
Edited by TirionOr maybe he means we're getting the FAQ today. Possibly. Please?

Less easily solved, unavoidable, could not have been easily handled through basic common sense and the foresight possesed by a five year old
It says a lot. Although I do agree, a lot is unsaid at the same time.
But, to summarise it, as I see it - note, this is not "Truth", "Gospel", or anything more than "Rumour" that I am inferring from what I have been exposed to:
1) Michael Gernes is now taking the FAQ / Q&A / Rules Questions.
2) The changeover from the old FAQ Crew to Michael involved a lot of things - questions, requests, etc - falling through the cracks and disappearing.
3) Conventions and conversations - such as, "No FAQ until 30 days after Release.", are potentially no longer relevant, as they applied with and from the old FAQ Crew.
4) A single point of contact but multiple points of referral will slow things down considerably. Consider this, as GK's point above, that when he jokes about misplacing things, my answer is, "All of the Above."... Effectively, they've lost all of the above. And it will have to be rebuilt.
5) Poking and Goading FFG (and Consequently, Michael Gernes) will do absolutely nothing but inflame tensions and actually make it more difficult to resolve our problems and inquiries. We don't know the reason for the changeover, we just have to make the best of it... Not dwell on the worst of it.
6) For the time being, we are on our own, and will thusly have to continue relying on what scrapes and titbits of information we have... I do sincerely wish that we could have an outside point of authority, but I doubt the community at large would agree to that. (For example, a committee of dedicated members who wished to hash out an Unofficial FAQ that could be adhered to by TOs)...
Edited by DrasnightaOr he's simply helping out cause they're busy...... Sounded as if he had been involved for a while
He's doing the FAQ for all the games or just armada? Because it sounds like they are understaffed. I'm willing to work practically for free, can have FAQ up this afternoon.

You think if they were allowed to source outside, unpaid, completely free work, I wouldn't have done it day one? ![]()
I mean, I made a pdf with Card Images and all for my Local League....... >.>
Well I figured you were still dealing with your criplling coffee shortage
The big trick here for us, especially in the Rules Forum, is:
We are awesome at discussion
We are awesome at devil's advocating
We are awesome at hashing out reasonables...
But we completely and utterly suck at, if not coming to a consensus, but communicating that consensus with any form of community weight authority.

That, and my staggeringly high blood pressure, are the two greatest obstacles to my future existance, yes.
But they don't stop me from gettin sheeyat done in the Rules Forum! ![]()

why not? let's do the thing and see if we can get others to buy in.
Drat. I was hoping that the reason for the delay was that FFG was waiting for force Friday, and we'd have articles galore in October.
Any hope that the article delays are not affecting shipping dates?

okay. good points, but i think if we get the approval of some of the community leaders 'round here: you, the iff crew, and a few others, we could try hashing it out.
the secret to the latter points is to not do it on the forums but rather in a more "in person setting. chat room" that way deliberation happens and when we all leave the room we have the consensus.
The question is (and if not, it should be), for example:
Why is "Drasnighta" a Community Leader.... Why is anyone a 'community leader'. Why is there such a concept of 'community leader' at all in an all-points equal forum with little active moderation?
What gives me the right to be part of such setting. I'm just a guy, after all. Quite often, I'm wrong. Quite often, I'm so wrong I get hate messages.
Honestly - that point - and the sub-points that get raised by it, is what has stopped me in the past. I applaud everyone who has ever tried to get "unofficial FAQs" off the ground for many different games systems, but I admit, I'm very biased by the fact that not-one I've been involved with has stuck, and I tend to pour my heart into things.
I think, I've come to a point where I expect disappointment and anger. So I build my own expectations on disappointment and anger.
I don't plan for success anymore.
Yeah they won't even take game ideas from outside, I'm fully believe their are good reasons behind this, they are not going to outsource games they have. But yeah I've had the sense that they are understaffed as well.

Its more likely the other way around.
Potential Production and Shipping Dates are being knocked back (potentially due to the Hanjin bankruptcy), so rather than give an article early and have the long lead times continue before shipping, they're likely waiting until they themselves have some solid shipping information before giving an article.
Don't drum up the support too early, drum it up in a timely manner so you can sell it while the excitement is there.
... I mean, on the "leader" thing...
If your criteria for that is "be a prolific poster, and share information as you see it promptly and factually.",
then by that measure, AdmiralNelson would be a community leader...
and, as much as the cynical Australian in me would enjoy that Irony, I don't think that's going to happen ![]()
Shipping delays mean article delays: makes sense. Unfortunate, but understandable.
my personal definition of one who posts prolifically, (mostly) politely, and contributes in a positive way to the discussions and to the community as a whole.
however, i totally take your point about the potential fallout of what would ultimately be arbitrary. i couldn't help but put my feet in the water ![]()

Before we could really even put substantial thought towards it, we'd need to have solid criteria on who would compose such a committee. That is the most controversial, and the most difficult, first step to overcome.
Once you have that, then we're on the track - so if you want to focus some effort on that part, that would be where to place it.
