That is only hinted at with the AT-RT for example, where it mentions the multiple gun attachments... But its only hinted.

I have choice words for your world.

Once, in a younger time, I accepted a commission to assemble a persons (admittedly, small) space Marine army.

But he expected all arms on every space marine to be magnetised. So they could be hot swapped as required.

Jesus. RUN. RUN AWAY.

I used rare earth magnets to change out the arms on a few warjacks back in Warmachine* and that was all right but kind of annoying. The idea of an entire space marine army (small or no) having magnetized arms on everyone (not just, say, the special or heavy weapons guys) is INSANE.

*Not relevant to this particular topic but I also used rare earth magnets so my dropships in Dropzone Commander could literally carry their charges around in the air and it was awesome.

It's neither.

On the main Legion page, easily accessed and readily apparent to anyone with half a brain:

"And of course, perhaps the most entertaining way you can customize your army is by painting and customizing your miniatures! All Star Wars: Legion minis come unpainted, so after you assemble your army, you’ll be able to paint your miniatures into something that only you could have created. Although you don’t need to paint your miniatures, many players find it more enjoyable to play with a painted army, and even if you’ve never painted an army of miniatures before, Star Wars: Legion is the perfect introduction to the hobby. Keep an eye on the support section below for Star Wars: Legion painting tutorials."

Did you guys read the X-wing FAQ?

Biggs got Rieekaned. And the Jumpmaster got taken down shine notches.

I did it. I charged, ahem, an arm and a leg for it.

But that wasn't as bad as the old-school White Scars army I painted once.

Back in the days before Devlan Mud and all... Back when Chaos White was Chaos White...

He had something like a 50 model completely customised model army to be painted as White Scars... He asked how much. I really, really didn't want to do it. Painting that much white was annoying, what with having to do basically a 5 coat zenithal spray with rattlecans before going into Yellow and Red detailing (the WORST in the old school paints).

... So I quoted what I believed was outrageous as a quote... (Something like $900 at the time).

... b'stard thought a moment and said "Okay!"

... That's why I'm good at painting Stormtroopers these days.

So, are you inferring that @GhostofNobodyInParticular does not have half a brain? :)

Yup. I don't play the game, but I don't need to play the game to recognize that some serious nerfening happened over there. I also lurked in some of their QQ threads--apparently a drunken monkey approved the entire Jumpmaster expansion, because like half the cards in it are errata'd now.

Holy article drop! 5 Legion articles!

Poor word choice in re Ghost (Sorry @GhostofNobodyInParticular, no offense intended).

But to be fair, Ghost acknowledged that you have to assemble the models, he was inquiring about the basing itself and whether they were covers.

(As an aside Ghost - basing and scenery can be a fun part of wargaming, check out one of many tutorials here: https://xenite.wordpress.com/modeling-painting-and-hobby-articles/advanced-basing-techniques/)

[[EDITED]]

Let's try not be hyperbolic.

No offense taken, never fear. :) Thank you for the link.

Told you news was going to be like a fire hose once it started.

My wallet is weeping trying to figure out how to afford all of this.

I was specifically responding to the:

"I am disappointed that they don't specifically state that they are unassembled and unpainted in the marketing. I have to assume they do say so on the box in fine print...

... But the fact that they are not display boxes (like Armada) means they have something to hide."

or

"Its just hard to prove wether [sic] its deliberately deceptive or just "marketing"."

It's not deliberately deceptive to include photographs of painted models and/or scenery and basing.

Especially when there is a big old disclaimer on the main page, it states it in the legion rules, the announce article, and at least two or three other articles online.

Let's try not be hyperbolic.

I'm not being Hyperbolic, I'm just stating that if it is mentioned in fine-print, then its marketing... And its **** good marketing at that, because it catches the eye and goes for it.

The Articles themselves, and what is displayed on the box, doesn't tell you - which has the potential to be labelled as Deceptive... You know, the same way that Hot Coffee you order isn't hot unless your cup warns you that its hot... People can (and have) claimed that they didn't know. Because it wasn't stated.

If your first view of Legion is one of these 4 stated articles.. With the exception of the Air Speeder Article, you could wonder... At least until such time as you go and do further research...

That's all I'm stating.

TL;DR:

A lot of People are Morons, and its a sad fact that the world has to accommodate them, it seems.

Tried to delete so that I wouldn't provoke this kind of response, but I'll follow up on a couple of things here.

1) "You know, the same way that Hot Coffee you order isn't hot unless your cup warns you that its hot... People can (and have) claimed that they didn't know. Because it wasn't stated."

- If you're referring to the (in)famous mcdonalds case, the woman received third degree burns to a surprisingly large amount of her body and crotch area. She needed skin grafts and years of physical therapy to achieve good mobility again (she was old.) It wasn't that the coffee was hot, it's that it was too hot. McDonalds at the time had a practice of super-heating the coffee to maintain its warmth for longer. The whole point was that it was much hotter (by more than 50 degrees F) than would be expected by an ordinary customer, without informing the customer that the coffee was super heated to dangerous levels. I know that this isn't the point, but as a lawyer I hate when people use this example as one of a ridiculous case. Trust me, there are plenty better ones to choose from.

2) "you could wonder... At least until such time as you go and do further research..." v. "Its just hard to prove wether its deliberately deceptive or just "marketing"."

- These are entirely different. Deliberately deceptive or misleading marketing is a bit different than the simple notion that someone could be confused.

3) "A lot of People are Morons, and its a sad fact that the world has to accommodate them, it seems."

- Now I'm confused. Are you trying to say that FFG is deliberately deceiving people by not including express descriptions re building and painting, or are you saying that requiring them to do so would be to accommodate your 'morons'?

All that I was trying to say is that I thought that FFG was pretty clear in their announce article that Legion will be unpainted and unassembled. It's a bit much at this point, with what we currently know, to insinuate that they're being deliberately deceptive in their marketing.

From one familiar with the marketing of mini wargames, it is standard practice to market unpainted unassembled miniatures as fully painted and fully assembled in terrain and with basing. There are sections on the main page describing the nature of the game as unpainted and unassembled. Presumably, the packaging will too, which we don't know because we do not have the final packaging.

I've explained that case to so many people before. The worst part of it to me was the court issued a gag order on the woman who got burned but not on McDonalds so they got to tell their story publicly and she didn't.

I think Dras may be understandably a bit testy today after reading the rules forum.

Legion seems like it is overpriced sadly. $50 for an unpainted AT ST seems way way too much. A painted imperial star destroyer costs the same! I was hopeful that legion would be cheaper than armada and X wing since they aren’t painting Legion but i appear to be wrong. Not quite as excited for legion now. At least I have a few months to consider it.

I actually wanted them to be unpainted but I did expect them to be cheaper because of it. I may not jump in as deep as I thought I would.

Right?

Also, @Drasnighta, apologies for being a little testy myself.

I think it's a pretty large scale that they're using.

Definitely not for the faint of wallet though.

I really want this game because I think armada and legion can be mixed together to play a giant campaign (casual gaming of course). I’ve never painted before but want to give it a shot. Just would have been nice to see the wave one stuff about $10 - $15 dollars cheaper. Unpainted stuff should be a little cheaper I think. Perhaps I’ll just jump in slowly rather than dive all the way in. I’ve got months to make up my mind at least.

oops I meant to reply to @Megatronrex my bad

I hope so it does look like a pretty large base in the pic with all the Troopers gathered around it.

I feel exactly the same way. If they're large enough and detailed enough and customizable enough then I won't be complaining
