ANECDOTE ALERT!

I came in 2nd at last Marietta Regionals sporting a Glad 2 "Wolfpack" (love that name)

Umm sir, I use Insidious all the time. In fact, I've used it ever since the Dual Glad thread was formed months ago after the Dual ISD thread. But that's as anecdotal as Gink's comment about naked Nebs being good.

I think Glad I are used more often because you have 4 black dice rather than 3. I know when I tried Demo Glad II the missing black die sucked, so I had to mitigate that by taking Jonus. It ends up being a very expensive upgrade.

I've had some success with the Glad II as flak, but I don't know if it's worth the 6 points. It's situational and I'd rather kill the carriers and run away.

Its a rarity to hear of. Always like being proven wrong :)

I know one of my Locals finished up high in the ranks at the last Fleet Patrol with a List that had Two Nebs, and the only title was Redemption...

Certain ships have their followers... I'm sure you're having a lot of fun and having great effect with Insidious, but you'll be decried as an outlier and perhaps even a Heretic for being so.

For me, that ship is the Interdictor. Even when it does have success, its still derided and I'm made to feel like an absolute tool for even trying to make it work...

"Two Interdictors, you can't kill anything!" and such :D

It is, regrettably, a popularity contest. You can have things work for you. But the problem is convincing the masses of that.

Back to where I was kind of at, though.

I feel that if you have a Problem with the Neb B because of Yavaris, you should have exactly the same problem with Gladiator because of Demolisher. They are inherently defining titles.

I would love to have a Glad wolfpack work. Or dual Glad and 2 raiders. But my problem is that the players in my area are above average in skill. Not to say I myself am not skill. We just have a focus on building good competitive lists.

I agree with you about trying the Interdictor though. I absolutely love flying that ship and using the Experimental shenanigans.

Does my 3x Glad; 3x Raider Corellian Conflict fleet count as a wolfpack?

To be fair you probably have an extra 100 points to work with there.

Yes, I do, but my campaign has stalled a bit, and I don't quite recall what I have anymore.

Whoa. I’d counter that the Marietta Regional brings skilled players.

It was a gamble, and having 4 ET Glads wrecked a lot of people because they had few plans for it.

Then you run into the guy with max YT 2400s...

Let me clarify. Demo is always first in the list. If I have a second Glad, it's Insidious. No way I'd not take Demo to save 7 points, so I can have a situational Insidious.

I've been out of it for a little while. Why is a Glad wolfpack not considered competitive right now? Is it because it doesn't push many squadrons, and squadrons are presently hegemonic? (Are they?)

Write about the ship on your blog and how it's good? That's how @Snipafist made people reconsider Raiders. Or yell at them, as I did for Leia. Course, now I gotta win 2 Adepticon and a few store championships with Leia to get the street cred...

Wait! I always thought Glads came by pairs!! At least it happened to me every time I build something with them.

I thought Leia was good before you made your article. Really buffs small ships. And made me consider taking Redemption for once.

Actually a pair of glads and a raider. Sometimes a pair of raiders and a glad.

I am starting to think we don't play the same game guys :P

But I mean, like I said. The perception for me is that Demolisher is the only Gladiator you Ever see. Because, Insidious, am I right? And never a Barebones...

Redemption, yes, that's probably a fair rarity though...

But you hear every once in a while of Salvation. Or even these crazy Neb-B Gunlines.

Yavaris, Salvation, and Redemption each boost something very different about the ship. You can build a whole list around any of the three - Yavaris with bombers, Satovation, Redemption with Proj Experts and a Shields to Max friend.

Demolisher and Insidious make the Gladiator better at the one thing it already does, and Demolisher is the more broadly useful of the two.

The Gladiator's titles are pretty directly comparable to the MC30's in that way, for obvious reasons; but for that one focuses on defense and the other on offense.

The owner of our FLGS had a heart to heart with us. He's fed up with FFG's inability to set a date and deliver product. He can schedule events for GW and MTG because they can at least land a release date within a few weeks. To him, FFG is making it impossible to market the product correctly, especially since he's not in a major metro (Scranton/WB is a large area with a lot less than say Philly or Pittsburgh).

I see his point as it's his livelihood with the store. I'm just waiting to see what is coming and how to sort my money out to buy it. Honestly, I'm Looking forward to Legion more than anything else from FFG, including Armada.

Stasy where do you play in scranton/wilkesbarre? I have a place in lake ariel. Maybe i can make a tourny around there sometime

Then I believe that means there were two all Gladiator wolf packs at that tournament then, unless I'm mistaken about your IRL identity (which I doubt). The other one recently (over the summer) retired that fleet, since squadron heavy fleets were giving it a harder and harder time. (He has since begun experimenting with a dual Lib list.)

The version I know runs zero squads and it just can't fight through a heavy bomber list. It often beat all or mostly ship lists by flat out tabling them, and since it was a Glad-1 swarm it needed rams to murder all the flotillas. That meant sitting still in the bomber swarm, which was just fatal. Even hit-and-runs on just the heavier ships was extremely difficult to get favorable, so he's retired it.

Well, you guys are the one with the Blog and the followers.

People don't even listen to me when I'm giving actual advice.

I'm flattered that you think people listen to me, hahaha. I have been defending Raiders for a long enough time that I do at least have some street cred there. Now that External Racks exist, it's not nearly so hard to convince folks about them any more but they've always been good if tricky to get the hang of.

Oh, and I've run non-Demolisher Gladiators a fair amount. Won Adepticon back in wave 2/2016 with a 3 Glad 2 Raider fleet and won it earlier this year with a 2 Glad 2 Raider 2 Gozanti fleet. The first Gladiator is always Demolisher, of course, but after that I don't mind going without a title. Insidious has been very hit or miss with me - most of the time I find it functionally useless but every now and then it really comes through for me. I usually find the points are better spent elsewhere, though.

My problem is that I get distracted like Dug in Pixar's Up by the new shininess. Depending on if I can get to two regionals this year (along with Adepticon) I may likely try Leia as my second list/plan to get her good. How MANY Nebulons can I cram into a list? Let's find out.

Civilisation: A New Dawn

There were plenty of jokes I could have made. Instead, I present the information completely punless.

Is there a different spelling of civilization in Australia...or in English? This isn't the first time I've seen civilisation.

Auto-correct doesn't like it though.
