No. I want wave 6

Well, you can wait.

Like the rest of us.

I've already got one local store showing off the fact they've got the boxes - but then closing the door on them until tomorrow :D

FFG's knee-breaker men are a powerful disincentive to sell early. I got to unbox and manage a lot of new wave 6 stuff but then it was sadly shut away.

We're going to have our usual "holy crap everyone, let's play some wacky 500 point new wave games!" tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to. It's become something of a tradition for us and it feels something like little kids going nuts on Christmas morning.

Edit: just to be clear, by "unbox" I mean "remove from their huge shipping boxes" and by "manage" I mean "inventory and get ready for sale tomorrow." I want to open up the little plastic spaceships as much as the next guy, but patience is required.

Sunday's when I'm hosting at the Sentry Box... Casual games this week for people to chat around, then back into a Fleet patrol in 2 Weeks time for some actual prizing :D

The Sentry Box League's Prize Kitty at the moment includes, but is not limited to:

19430072_10155627030100832_3176806809073

Those are ISD-Is hiding in the Shadow.

Glare cuts it out, but there's 3 pages of XI7s, 3 Pages of Leading Shots, and 4 Pages of TRCs.

The Black binders are Upgrade Card binders :D

The stacks of TIEs and X-Wings are over 30 high...

Plus I'm also looking at a big 500pt Tournament come October, where the prize Run will include Corellian Conflict Alt-Arts... Because, sufficed to say, they are rare in Canada.

Guys, you can blame me for Wave 6 being as late as it was:

First adult, full-time, big boy paycheck tomorrow -> Wave 6 will be the first purchase. FFG knew this, and decided to push the date back to July :D

A few weeks ago, I predicted a new product announcement by the end of June. It appears that I was wrong and that my powers of precognition leave something to be desired.

I therefor wish to apologize for my erroneous pronouncements, and vow that i will clean my crystal ball better in the future. I don't think I can overstate how important it is to keep your crystal-balls clean.

I wish a good long weekend to all. Happy hunting and Godspeed.

I figured a GenCon announcement, but thought June might be early enough for a third 2017 announcement.

I mean in 2016 we had one in March, May, July, and August.

So far this year we've only gotten March. Thought we might get a June & August this year.

Why is that?

To be fair, its mostly misplaced jealousy, but anyway:

The first 28 Years of my Life, I grew up in Australia.

I found RPGs and TableTop gaming very early in life... So the majority of that time, I've been Subject to the simple fact that nothing is more awesome in the gaming world as GenCon.

Which is arguable, but for my youth, that was the the truth of it. You were shown the awesome sort of things you could see and pick up, and as time went on, the swag you were given, the access you have.

And for most of those 28 years, it was resonated, very heartily... You Will Never Get To Go.

Multiple Thousands of Dollars for Airfare alone. Plus then likely to be able to afford the ticket to actually attend... Hotel. All of those arrangements.

Heck, the one time I was working for FASA and they were flying people to get to GenCon, I was the only one coming from Australia... So they declined to pay my airfare. The one person to miss out. Fuming an Furious, but them's were the breaks.

Cue now. 7 Years ago, I moved to Canada. I'm now much closer to GenCon. I start building a nest-egg to be able to visit one year, to live my dream, to get to the one gaming mecca I really, really, really want to...

It takes me 6 years to get to the point where I'm almost ready to go, "I can do it this year..."

... and then the Border crossing details for my certain particular circumstance change, and... boom. I'm stuck again. For the forseeable future.

Another Year. Another GenCon. Fuming and Furious at things that are outside of my control, where everyone else is, "Man, you just have to go." and "its so Exclusive."

Its partially the exclusivity of it that tanks me off so much...

And now, well, now I've got my Kiddo too... And in 4 years time, when and if the Government of the US changes again and we get some favourable policy updates... My nest egg for me to go will be wholly insufficient, because I'll be taking my 8 Year old with me, at the very least... Which adds a lot, because its no longer a case of "he's too young to go, its dangerous." and all.

So I'm just feeling hurt and sad and disappointed. A case of "So close, and yet so far."

So yeah.

Jealous hatred.

Reasonable and understandable.

Still, I hope things work out and you get to go one day.

I've never had the desire to go. Don't know what all the hype is about.

I also never had the money to go, and I hate crowds of people.

And I hate long lines.

Six Flags Flashpass has ruined me forever.

I'm in the same boat your used to be in, Dras - over here in Australia, we tend to get the short end of the stick for any and all gaming events. One day, GenCon, one day...

I remember, once. once they held a "GenConOz" up in Brisbane.

But, of course, it was Brisbane, and I lived in Country Victoria.

Might as well have been Perth.

And apparently it was soooo mismanaged, it was only "Once".

Sounds about par for the course, yes

And, surprising no one, there is our on-sale article.

They officially spoiled the last card at least.

I stopped going to GenCon when it left Wisconsin.

Just felt like it wasn't at its home any more.

I'm also very averse to crowds. But if you arrange to be playing games most of the time and avoid the showroom and various presentations - it's not too bad.

Like many of these things, the more popular and crowded it gets - the less likely you get to do the things you want to do.

Also, I got to "cheat" and get around most of the pain because I was working for a game company at the time. So there's that. ;)

TBH I've kinda given up on this game, I hardly get to play it because I changed shifts after towards the end it felt kinda stale due to the flotillas...haven't even picked up my wave 6 preorder and probably wont.

NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll be terribly sorry to see you go (don't go!)! :(

Why not just try to play casually for a bit, disregarding the 'meta', flying what you like to fly, and see if that reengages your interest?

Can I have all your stuff?

It'd a shame to see you go, mate.

Especially since:

1) We don't have a Venator yet.

2) I can't comment on your area in particular, but Flotillas are already being reduced in numbers here due to the changes, FAQ, and desire for new stuff.

But things can get brutally depressing with the same hack as well... I've almost packed it in a few times myself...

So here's hoping, at the very least, you hold onto your stuff, and even if you do give it up for now - you look back in the future and give it a shot - and when you do... You find that spark that had you enjoying it in the first place, all over again.

I can say I've put my Armada collection away for a month or two to recover from it. It's healthy to do that if you ever burn out on something you enjoy doing.

For me it was a response to Regionals 2016... I loved the game but at a total of 1-8 with a good number of those matches being lopsided, I needed to walk away.

I don't know about the rest of you guys and gals... I'm excited to just even see new ships on the tables. Regardless of how good or bad they may be!

Strange, this is sort of how I've been feeling about X-wing lately, and I've had the same reaction to it. For the first time since I started playing back in wave 1, I haven't preordered anything, and probably won't buy any of it. It's become stale due to several reasons, but the latest wave has actually made it worse, rather than better, even before it has released.

After Regionals last year, I burned out on it a bit. I stepped away and started Armada, and found it immensely refreshing. I got back playing X-wing after a while, but another Regionals came and went, and burned not just me out again, but several of the players I respect most in the area. It's such a shame, but it can happen.

I do heartily suggest taking a step away from the game for a bit, and maybe rejoin in purely casual play for a bit. My time away from the competitive edge of X-wing saw me play a lot of 150pt and 300pt Epic games with friends, which helped me realise it wasn't the game I didn't like, but chasing the competitive meta. It's a quiet promise I've made to myself in Armada since then; don't take it too seriously, even in a tournament.
