Just trying to straighten it out for the much-anticipated Hammerhead article. The original wave release mentioned fourteen upgrade cards. How many do we know?

8. Hondo Onaka
9. Leia Organa

11. ???

So, we have some guesses to make. We could expect some of these upgrades to get two copies in the expansion, since there are two ships to put them on (or instead, maybe one of the Task Force titles lets twin ships share upgrades). So maybe there's little left to reveal besides QBTs.

I understand why they could duplicate titles, but I'm not sold on the idea. It's growing on my, mind, but I dunno. . . what else could they have do you think? Any cards from the Quasar set that might fit (other than QBT)?

I am sure it is going to be cards from other expansions. We only have 8 new cards for the quasar that leaves two to be repeats like expanded hangar bay or flight controllers (among other things)

The more pressing question is: when will they be available?

My prediction is a June 15th release. I really hope they're on shelves the week before but that is pretty unrealistic.

They can't be on the shelves the week of the 8th now... Even if they went to "Shipping Now" today, it'd basically be the 15th at this point. - Shipping now is always 2 weeks, mandated by Asmodee, so they can hit not only US Distributors, but many worldwide, for simultanious release.

They are definitely duplicating the task force titles. I have no doubt in my mind that the fact that they are non-unique is why this thing was packaged the way it was. I just fervently hope they put two copies of external racks in each box cuz omg i needz.

Also, no news on Memorial Day last year, and no reason to have any this year.

X-Wing is first off the block today. Granted, its something they've been wanting for a long time....

With an X-Wing article out for this week, I'd like to believe that means the Hammerhead article will come sometime this week too. Fingers crossed.

The new X-wing stuff looks cool though. Those ships have been waiting for a fix for a long time.

Eh I predict an article Thursday/Friday when they go to Shipping now. Probably available the 15th for a release date.

Ye olde budget only allows for one of each currently, so it is easy for me, but I can understand your frustration with that. I'm probably going to wish I had/could have ordered a second hammerhead.

Our FLGS distributor needed "guaranteed" pre-orders* in by May 1st, so I got to round up my locals and tell them that they need their pre-orders in prior to knowing anything about the ships beyond the wave 6 teaser article. Suffice it to say, nobody was happy with that situation.

*Basically our FLGS will for sure get whatever was ordered by May 1st in time for the wave 6 release but may or may not get anything ordered after May 1st exactly on time for the big wave 6 release. You can still pre-order things after May 1st but you might or might not get them when everyone else is getting their wave 6 stuff they pre-ordered earlier.

Exactly. People need to be able to know what they might want, so that retailers can know what they need so distributors can estimate what to order. FFG shoots themselves in the foot by neglecting this bottom-up dynamic and not really comprehending their supply-chain timelines

Agreed right back. In earlier pre-Asmodee waves, we knew what we were ordering. People were much more confident about their pre-orders and I daresay it meant more stuff pre-ordered overall because instead of "maybe this will be something I want? I have no idea at all!" it was "I can definitely see using two Imperial Star Destroyers if only for fun, so sure why not? Who needs $100 anyways?"

Man... I don't know what your stores issues are. I can pre order at mine, but they can almost always get something from their distributor within 2-3 days, even on new releases.

Now things can sell out, but Armada isn't nearly like X Wing or Destiny where they're sold out on arrival.

It's quite likely that anything pre-ordered even a few days before wave 6 shows up will be there on time for wave 6. It's just not guaranteed (as the distributor itself, a really big distributor, might I add, needs to determine how much it wants to buy from FFG at least a month ahead of time). I prefer a guarantee over a "pretty likely."
