Technically it's Central Daylight Time now, so GMT -5

I was lead to believe that was a Prototype one from the original "pre-release" box set, before they'd settled on everything and were doing Industry Promos... It was cardboard and plastic slotting together, and didn't end up being as "reliable" as the one we currently have... (Which, as we know, is super reliable and never gets extra flexy or anything evah...)

So, I'm going to bring this up here...

Its not Actually Armada... But... its something to consider.

For Runewars, they just released this:

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/4/10/runewars-miniatures-game-essentials-pack/

If you don't click the link, and can't be bothered and all... The TL;DR of it is this:

"This is a Core Set with just the Core Set Stuff. No Models Included."

And its $25 US.

Versus the actual Core Set, which is $100.

... hell of a Precedent to Set, isn't it ?

To Quote part of the article:

The Runewars Miniatures Game Essentials Pack includes

  • Four terrain pieces with matching cards
  • Six objective cards
  • Six deployment cards
  • Thirty morale cards
  • Ten upgrade cards
  • Four reference cards
  • Four deployment markers
  • Eight objective markers
  • Ten wound tokens
  • Five energy tokens
  • Twenty-two boon and bane tokens
  • Twelve Unit ID Tokens
  • One Round Counter
  • Nine movement templates
  • Six attack dice

Many of these components are identical to the ones in the Runewars Miniatures Game Core Set, including the ten upgrade cards, and allow players to immediately jump into the world of Terrinoth with high-quality components.

I'd actually have two copies of flight controllers now...

It's a great idea so you don't have to buy 2 core sets to play in your living room with a friend.

Heck I'd get it just to get another measuring tool to cut down to a usable size

okay maybe 25$ is a bit expensive for a new measuring stick, but it'd be a nice way to get another one that wasn't plastic

The optimist in me says this is a awesome precedent to set that might benefit us eventually.

The much stronger cynic says they had to do this with a multi-faction game for all those people that didn't want to play one of the two factions in the core set.

Yes, but honestly... All (cynical) bets were on a second core set until this release...

They are really stoked about that runewars product. It looks pretty cool too, but aparmtment life says one mini game only.

Gah, a name change?

Blasphemy!

Doesn't count until you submit it in triplicate, handwritten in cursive, after dotting all of the 'i's with little lovehearts.

Can I see a certified copy of the bylaws on that?

Only once you've submitted a formal request, in triplicate, handwritten in cursive, after dotting all of the 'i's with little lovehearts.

I checked this not 20 minutes before it updated, and was disappointed...... So good shot Lemmiwinks86 for pointing it out :D

We were "At the Printer" a mere 2 Weeks.

If the On-boat time is 4 weeks, we'll have it by the End of May.

If the on-boat time is 8 weeks, we'll have it by the End of June.

(Which is still "On Time")

And the On-Boat time of things has, apparently, been edging for more the 4-5 weeks as of recent (post-Christmas).

ALSO

Essentially, the 6-month Anniversary of the FAQ is sometime this week (or early next)... So that may be on the cards as well, if you are a believer in that time frame system.

Stop.

I can only get so erect.

At release one core is not enough to play a standard tournament game, some have figured two core sets will not be enough for the undead. I think this is all due to having 2 more factions coming out soon and people not wanting Humans or Undead. It still looks like you will need to buy certain expansions for specific cards, ie MC-30, but this is still best guesses.

If these were painted I would probably jump on this game, but I am not a painter and I have a brand new opened Blood Bowl that I have not even put together the minis let alone think about attempt to fool myself that I can paint them.

Yes and No. They've stated that Expansions will have Specific cards, but that - unlike Armada/X-Wing - you will not have to purchase cross faction to have those upgrades... They will always be available in-faction.

This is a positive, I have read some the fears/speculations on the RMG forum. This is one thing I still hope they fix in Armada/W-Wing and not 2-3 waves after the fact.
