Article Predictions. Mostly General Discussion. But there's definately some Predictions scattered throughout.

I think he is talking about intent

If the waves keep at a pace of say 2 waves per year (not using 3&4 as 2 waves only as 1) that would make wave 10 coming in 2019. Which X-wing has got to wave 10 in 4 years. Armada would be there in 4 as well, but with exception of not having to develop for a 3rd faction which gives more time dedicated to the 2 factions instead of 3.

Where are you getting two waves a year? This year its looking more and more like just one.

If we get wave 5 this year that'll make 2. Which I hope we do.

Yes I am

Star Wars RPG Article...

Eventually, I'm sure I'll be temped to buy into one of the storyline series.

Don't do it draw! Hold out for the ground based minis clone wars game in the vein of rune wars! It will happen!

Hm...I never thought of a barrel roll maneuver for Armada. That sounds pretty cool.

It becomes broken when you can drop an ISD or Liberty on the other side of the tool. Try it and you'll see what I mean. The footprint is just too large for them to do it, and you get a massive shift. Maybe on small ships it can work but I'm still not sold on the idea.

Sure sure, but I would imagine that this would be limited to specific medium or small based ships. I can totally see how an ISD could be an even larger disruption to the battlefield with this maneuver. Unless you took hull damage to perform the maneuver...0 damage for small ships, 1 damage for medium, 2 damage for large...

It just feels like their team said "Hey look what we made! We don't even know what it does, but it can move backwards! Don't worry, you can't kill a Tie with this, but look at this cool widget you can install. Pretty neat right?"

I'm sure it will find a niche like the Interdictor did. That's what I am worried about for Armada. Past Wave 10, will we get some filler ship with upgrades that you need for other ships/builds (Interdictor anyone??).

Hence why I said give us new, original content, and supplement it with cardboard packs like CC that changes the game and give us some more options for what we already have.

I really hope the next few waves expand on the new upgrades we've gotten the past year or so and puts them on new ships, and includes some new samples to really flesh them out.

So by the mood in this topic, the next artical for SWA should be about the Arquitens and how it surrounds and kills local primtives *cough* Rebels with those side arcs?

And because I rarely pass up a chance to be "that guy," shouldn't the Imperials start calling them side arqs?

I assume they would be the TArqC variant?

Dras, what did you do,,,,?

(In accusing tone of voice)

Today is armada article day, period. Time to spoil capital ships, thx!

I don't even play X-Wing, but this indicates FFG is running out of ideas:

Seems like they just made this ship as filler:

That said, I don't play X-Wing. Maybe the ship is going to be good. But from the outside looking in, new X-Wing content looks really boring and bland. Like Sabines Tie or the new Falcon.

I do play X-Wing, and the Quadjumper looks like a fun addition to the game to me.

But, you know...

Really hoping we get one of the ships today. I'm not all that excited by the fighters.

Not everyone wants just Bees...

I have our chances for an article at 33.33%, repeating of coarse.

Well that's better than we usually do...

Yeah but in general, if you talk to your FLGS or even look at how many sold on Amazon or whatever, the newer X-wing stuff simply does not sell like it used to.

X-wing is still good, still has a large player base, but it's only natural that as the inevitable SKU growth gets crazy your new player uptake is going to decrease and maybe not keep up with people leaving the game.

Therefore, having rather obscure ships and adding more and more mechanics (with all the balancing issues it introduces across 10 waves and 3 factions) probably doesn't help the community in general, it almost starts to look like a reach, like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

At this point you almost expect them to do some sort of reset or something.

:P

It's more because the ships are likely to be bigger factors. Barring the Strategic keyword doing something crazy, I don't see Relay or Snipe being all that game changing. The Fleet Command upgrade and a Imperial broadsiding red-dice corvette on the other hand...

I got to sleep a whole hour....

Besides they need to end it now without the assault gunboat being released.

Maybe you didn't see that the first time, which I know you did because you edited my quote.

I made my point because how the article was written. They said up front the stats on it make no sense on its addition to the game. It can't kill a Tie. It can't compete with star fighters. Instead they added a new mechanic that let's you move backwards, and want you to use it to block fighters.

1. That doesn't seem thematic to intentionally crash into fighters. I've done that in Armada and it feels wrong to do it.

2. It seems X-Wing is going away from "Line up your shots" to "Crash into your opponent so they can't move", and this is reflected in the article about crashing your fighters into your opponent to block them in and this new ship, and the Tie Swarm tactics.

3. X-Wing seems to be more of a demo derby than skilled pilots fighting a dog fight.

But hey, this is all from a person who hasn't played X-Wing. I wonder how many other people have a similar point of view? These same people could be potential new players for a game that APPEARS to no longer follow it's key selling point (Star Wars dog fighting). Not to mention the huge amount of packs that have already been released which is a huge investment for a new player.

Probably because of that "Holi-Day" thing tomorrow, we got a "Now Available" Article on a Wednesday, instead of a Thursday...

So all of you that had stores claiming a November release what are they saying now?
