I finally opened the copy of game trade magazine that I'd gotten in the mail monday (they just started showing up after i bought 1 single issue from them years ago for a firefly xpac, I've literally paid nothing beyond the first one i bought but have gotten them monthly for nearly 2 years), the SSD flyer was in there. Honestly it's pretty awesome, FFG confuses me so thoroughly because this is a really well done, multi page flyer for an item that reached so few people. I'm semi confused why we don't have an article that directly relates to that flyer. This companies marketing is just so confusing.

Yep, I'd guess they're not great about updating their mailing lists. /shrug. I glance at whatever promo stuff is in them when they come in then toss the mag most months, I'm glad someone said something about this because i HIGHLY doubt I'd have flipped through it to find the centerfold armada piece.

I think they are trying to sell it more to game stores over people under the assumption that everyone who has seen it knows if they want it or not already, and they just need to increase visibility with non-armada customers(Something putting it on their site does less) and are putting it in trade magazines to get game stores interested in stocking one, which they think will lead to higher sales.

I'm not 100% how I feel about this. It reminds me a lot of when GW started saying "we're a model company" in response to their rule set starting to suffer and them losing players. I'm not saying it's the same thing, but it worries me a bit that this model still feels like a figurehead and a very realistic playing piece.

But, Games Workshop has ALWAYS been a model company, and the rules have always been secondary, from the formation of Citadel in the earliest days...

I mean, perhaps they were a Rules company back when they were in D&D magazines....

So then I've got one question. What's on the last page? Dude who sent me all the images of the flyer never said what was on the last page. Seemed like it was a mystery.

I'll take a look tonight and post a picture(do you mean the back or ? It's folded strangely. did he send you the full center fold picture?)

I guess the back of the folded side... one side was JUSt the SSD expanded over like 4 pages... and then the other side, he only showed 3 of them.... ship cards and upgrade cards. Sounded like the last part said something like GTM or something on it, which would have invalidated his story that this was sent to all retailers.

could have meant it'd been sent to retailers in the magazine itself, it's stapled in there like a centerfold(which is why i keep using that term). and ya that sounds correct, the "inside" of the fold is a 4 page spread of the ssd that lays out aspects of it like the bonus token. I "Think" the last page was just a generic picture of stars but i only briefly glanced over it because you posted most of it. I'll be home in 4ish hours.

I presume that chaoscards in the uk will snail mail me a copy once they receive it from Ffg as I pre purchased. Is that the marketing plan. Don’t answer if it puts you in a position.

A side note that I thought was really weird when i glanced at the cover on my way out the door this morning. There is NO mention of armada on the magazines cover at all. This seems like such a weird info dump to have literally no advertisement for.
