TBD, they haven't named the SSD "wave 8" but who knows.

What I really wanna know is if the new game mode that is being released with the SSD is just a point bump or whether it's going to have specific set of rules making the game different from the 600-1200 pointers I already play...

I think this new game mode will be very interesting when we finally hear about it. I’m really hoping it is more then just a points bump. Hopefully there will be some new wrinkle that adds something else to this mode. I have no clue what that could be. But I can hope.

Epic objectives would be cool. Although not likly

Better make the arrangements with the family. ?

I don't mean that as a dig at FFG. I just truly think they pulled the team off of Armada for other projects once the SSD was nailed down, and they probably don't have anything in the pipeline far along enough to even think about Wave 8 yet.

it's really hard for me not to view this as a dead game right now.

Armada isn't dead. It's just lower priority right now. Which sucks for us, especially since Armada is FFG's best game.

I doubt it'll be lower priority forever though - as it seems like this is more of a temporary thing. A slow period. I think 2020 might be a really good year for Armada. Episode 9 will have been out for a few weeks, there will be tons of new content and canon ships to pick and choose from - and we may see a major push for new content. In the mean time - hey I made a Nunchuck Expansion with new titles for all the ships! ha ha - No seriously there is enough content out there to keep the game going - and if you play OTHER games there's also a ton to distract you for the immediate future.

It’s somewhat telling for me that, basically, Holiday Sales are ALL ABOUT clearing merchandise and dumping stock to make room for better selling stuff.

Not a single Armada SKU is featured.

A few XWing ones were... but no Armada... Not even VSDs!

I had exactly the same thought. If you look more than half of the Armada expansions are in stock on the FFG we store, and not a single sale item. Something like the campaign especially would be a shoe-in for first on the winter sale chopping block if the game was being folded.

To me, Armada obviously has another year of support at the very least.

The other factor is despite the lack of regular updates I think Armada is a big enough part of their brand that if it was going it would get a Netrunner style retirement post.

The lack of a winter sale has really turned around my thinking on Armada’s immediate future.

Just sell your ships. I would like to buy some!

Even Runewars got back to a regular production schedule eventually (just look at their 2018 releases!).

It's whatever. This too shall pass.

That does not seem to me to be very plausible. The lack of possible content hardly explains FFG's behavior.

Considering postponement after postponement again and the terrible availability of older expansions, it is much more likely that they simply don't manage to get their production and supply chains in line to address the demand of old, new, and future waves. Whether this means that it is solved 2020, or hopefully 2019 already, or (let us pray that not) will never be solved and will lead to an early discontinuation of the game, is pure speculation, I fear ?

I think Dras is making the opposite point. The items on sale are all from dead or dying games (Or, in the case of card games, old cycles). The Fact that Armada SKUs aren't there should indicate that they think they can sell this game for a long time, and don't have to worry about a lot of stock not selling. The worst conclusion one can draw from this is that we won't be getting a second edition soon (but even then, the data isn't clear).

I was agreeing with him? No sale items = good for Armada’s future...

I just ... think that given the forums this day and age, it’s not immediate to believe that someone changed their opinion FOR THE MORE POSITIVE outcome... ?

Like that has dubious believability at best or something ?. Takes a second read to understand “oh, that can happen” sort of thing ?

I'm thinking about house ruling something in campaigns I run when people retire fleets. I've noticed the campaign tends to snowball hard, my goal is to try to balance something of that out by making retired fleets start at the average of the opponents side rounded down. I.E. if the opponent has 3 fleets at 456, 475, and 490 then the new fleet would start at 473.

Obviously the other aspects (point for the opposition, Uniques from previous fleet are unusable) still apply.

Thoughts?

I think an interesting question is how low are we willing to stoop to consider Armada news exciting?

What if Wave 8 turns out to be Ewok Boarding Troopers and Ice Cream Machine Guy from Bespin? Or worse, Young Ani and Sebulba (not in Armada's timeline, I know, shush)?

Or are we at the point where ANY news is good news, no matter how horrible it is?

I would totally love Ice cream machine guys,Armada needs more ice cream.

I’ve only played the campaign once and there was no snowball. All we changed was we started with 200 instead of 400. Alternatively you could play The Siege of The Arkanis Sector variant available on this forum, which uniformly raises the max fleet limit for everyone but removes the ability to unscar ships.

Too OP and needs to be nerfed now

Where did the article predictions thread go? I could not see it on the front page. I don't have the attention span to click next! help!

That was a week without a post in this thread! This is unacceptable!

I think we won't get anything this week, it's KeyForge release. Maybe next week...

Didn't they say the same about X-wing 2.0 release?

And they were right!

For me this is what will happen.

Sometime this month we will get an article about regional prizes.

Then being optimistic in December we will get wave 8 announcement.

January we will get SSD article

February we will get another SSD article, maybe wave 8 article.

Then March SSD will release

April will have a wave 8 article

May wave 8 will release.

I am being very optimistic about wave 8 but I think realistic with SSD.

The community created Lot5R card idea is really cool, I would love for them to do one for Armada.

Armada Shipyards has basically gone down. Its been a few weeks, so if anything I would predict...

THE CLONE WARS.

Because honestly, that is what I visited it for. Its the site that had all the Clone Wars era stuff, and with a meh thing about it at GenCon, then Shipyards going down, ect. I would expect that Clone Wars is actually on the Horizon for Armada.
