Its never been stated.
The reason is more nebulous than why they removed the Painting Sub-Forum for a time.
But essentially, all of the Star Wars Related Avatars - with the exception of the RPG Based ones - Simply disappeared one day.
I used to have an Imperial Symbol... Changed away for a time, then suddenly, one day, found I couldn't change back - and there's never been an announcement as to why.
boy, the time I spent to find out where all those fighter avatars come from...

As for "real" reasons, when GW management shook up they most likely wanted control back, as they have been re-releasing specialist games (Blood Bowl coming this year yay!).. and didn't want to be competing with FFG on products using their IP. FFG picked up all the GW stuff when GW decided they were above petty gaming outside of re-issuing warhammer games.

Untrue...I have 3 WHF armies just sitting around waiting for someone to play 8th ed. or 9th Age with me. I have hope! I sold my others, but Lizards, Wood Elves, and Beastmen are mine forever!!!!!
