Can anyone shed light on the mechanics of Gold awards in quests?

I've read that it is based around the amount of search tokens you gather ... are there any hard numbers on this? Is there a set amount of gold per token throughout a campaign or does it vary from quest to quest?

Vary quest to quest. The gold for the tokens its more a bonus and have a cumulative impact (only matters after you get more and more in the quests).
