But it also brings to mind an interesting question; the Foils on a Tie are supposed to be some kind of Solar/Ion Collector right? In a pinch I could see them serving as a form ablative armor. technically the TIE Engines are on either side of the Pod itself and as long as it has some kind of power source within the body even if it looses its Foils it could still fly, at least in space...no need for wings for maneuvering...but may run out of power shortly thereafter but could keep a pilot alive long enough for rescue...or surprise the heck out of an enemy that thinks they're dead...8D
