One setting I've looked to for inspiration on Tresk's custom swoop is Wipeout. The Asseigai FX350 variant model is pretty close to what I had in my head:
Next sort of image I'm looking for: The transport for carrying it and his team to the next race on the next planet.
Now those are an interesting take on the X-Wing.
