Armada and wooden ships

By Vogons, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

I admit I am a lifelong nerd. I don't know if any of the other old timer nerds remember old sailing ship games like "Wooden Ships and Iron Men." I'm not saying armada is ripping off any of these games, rather that what I enjoyed in them I love in Armada. Fleet actions in which you have to plan movement for the turns ahead. If you'r playing rebels the stern rake is the holy grail and Imperial ships (and the neb B) have been armed to make someone pay if they try to "cross your T." The game has all the old good stuff, PLUS IT'S STAR WARS.

Yup I agree with you, I play Close Action and Sails of glory, and I am a huge fan of Starwars. Armada is so much like 17-18th century ship to ship combat, you cross a T and you either wear it or you shred someone. Sad though there is no boarding actions that would make it even more of a classic. I have started to play Halo Fleet battles and

it has boarding actions that are just brutal, so why not Armada............... Storm troopers would really rule then.

Adding the wind would be the hardest part.
