The Cataclysm new expansion is announced

By The Thing In The Attic, in Talisman

The Cataclysm expansion is now listed as being "On the Boat". We will probably get an update within the next couple of weeks (Don't quote me one that, though!)

If released on schedule we should have it in 3 weeks :)

I was wondering how FFG was going to make me buy future editions of Talisman when Talisman ed. 4 is as perfect as perfect gets. Kudos to them for finding a way. Post-apocalyptic Talisman looks completely awesome.

Amazon says it will be available through them on May 31st. Maybe gaming shops will have it sooner? I've seen it happen.

Last 3 expansions (but not POD ones) I patronized local business, who had it shortly after it was available direct and before Amazon had it.

FRP Games has always been very fast.

Oh my... I thought this version had exhausted all possibilities... pffffffftttttttt

Pretty soon we'll be wondering if there will be any other new Expansion down the road. I would love it if some of the things I've seen or heard about with DE would come to pass, like "character packs".

Glad to hear, since they have my pre-order

Next they will start selling us new cataclysmic themed corner boards.

Sounds cool to me :) .

Me too lol

Maybe this time new boards that are not corner boards, like in 2nd edition. Corners beyond corners would look too weird.

Was more thinking post apocalypse boards like a ruined city that would be inmplace of original boards.

I'm liking what I'm seeing.

It said something about new Adventure cards for different regions. (!)

If you click on one of the pictures on this page: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/3/7/after-the-fall/ or this page: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/12/14/the-cataclysm-1/ you can scroll through 15/17 images and see some of the adventure cards.

(Only found out that by accident, then I noticed that you could just click the underlined blue words)

Not many places in the UK to pre-order yet (only Monkeys With Fire & OG Games)

Nice.

I wonder how the Haven cards work if there are "bad" followers in the discard pile?

Fantastic!

What do you mean? They are placed there like any other followers, except that you of course have to take them should you visit Havenville.

Looks good, but after all this time of silence, all we get are a few more adventure/terrain cards and 1 + 2 1/3 board spaces?!

That's hardly enough to quench my thirst for knowledge.

But I have to say, I like the change from the Sentinel to the Demon. (Probably means you can use either Strength and Craft to beat it

and get to the middle region.)

I wonder if the Oasis heals you for free just by landing on the space??

Sidenote: Imagine the Blightwood Rabble in a 6-Player Game that's been going for a while.

Anybody able to read the board in the image. We've still got a Forest, but it'd nice to know if we've still got a Ruins and a Crags for the sideboard. There appears to be some kind of City, although it'd feel a little incongruous after the cataclysm.

The other thing that'd be nice to know is if the Cataclysm uses an Adventure deck or something else. I guess we could always make a path between two worlds and play both boards.

I think it's safe to assume spaces like Village, Crags, Forest, Ruins Chapel even Sentinel have their names unchanged. Why? Because many older cards reference them. Characters also need their starting spaces. People keep forgeting this is an expansion first and foremost, not a new game that's compatibile with older stuff. Don't let the new main board fool you.

Cataclysm definitely uses Adventure deck.

I think what Jake wanted to ask was if the Adventure Deck that comes with the Expansion (Mainboard part) is to be used just by itself or if it could be mixed with the "old" Adventure Deck. We still haven't gotten anything official at this point, but since this is supposed to be an expansion,

my guess would be a) mix in with everything or b) use just the new stuff.

Unfortunately, it is the same very tiny image that they used in the previous preview. I've been staring at that image for a long time, but I don't think it's possible to actually read the text.

They don't have to keep the names. They could just put references into the rules for the starting spaces and such.
