The Cataclysm new expansion is announced
If you look you can clearly see a path leading from the city space to what would be the city board, ditto from the ruins to the dungeon, and even the forest appears to drift towards the woodland. Either this board is meant to be used with current expansion boards or FFG is going to release post cataclysm expansion boards (hopefully), I highly doubt they would be cheesy enough to release simple space covers that replace spaces on current expansion board spaces.
I've been thinking about other ramifications of a new board/set that comes with Cataclysm and also thought about the possible follow-up to the Deep Realms, a boardlet POD that could link The Woodlands with The Highlands, and . . .
I wondered if the creation of the new board might indicate that FFG might prefer or will issue more board-like 'things' for a future Realm, or even recreate a more board like space for Deep Realms?
Of course since we're now moving into a new thing; options with boards. For example will the new Cataclysm board be able to be used with The Dragon inlay board?
Would non-POD boards be options, against the POD counterparts? For example maybe new spaces on these mini-boards could be an ocean or a great lake of some sort (that runs into the River around the main board).
You could play some games with the Realm-connectors, and some games with new boards.
Other options or possibilities are out there I suppose.

I would hope FFG does indeed release next batch of expansions with boards. But square boards rather than corner boards, and all new ones - sea, hell, etc. Since they wouldn't be connected to main board via a particular space, they can be put anywhere and they can be accessible from middle region.
That way they can be used with or without old expansion boards, and that would be in the spirit of Talisman.

1. I think yes. There are very few cards that refer to the inner region.
2. I don't use corner boards (not enough space) so I don't care for mini boards that connect other boards, but I would like small boards that can be put anywhere next to the main board.
I would think that if they did redo the expansion boards we could at least be looking at a city in ruins which would be pretty awesome.
Really excited about this expansion and with an estimated end of March release that's only around 8 weeks away - Looking forward to an update as well, possibly showing more information on the new characters an possible alternate endings

I think we will have next preview on about 15th february, two months after first reveal. (other previews seem to follow this pattern)
That would be nice. The last time I moaned about "no new news" someone mentioned the 2 months and 2 weeks 'threshold', and it seemed like it was true with the previous expansion. So that would put it about end of Feb/beginning of March. But its not a contest to me, I hope you're right since I'm trying hard to not seem so desperate about the waiting...
I'm also wondering when if at all, the Realms POD that would bridge Woodlands and Highlands might come out since its been at least a year since the previous.

Patience folks. More info should come by mid to late February. I'm very much looking forward to this expansion too, but I'm not going to get myself in a tizzy about it knowing that Fantasy Flight usually doesn't give out previews until a little over two months after the announcement.

Does anyone know if the release date is universal, or staggered, I live in the UK and was wondering once it gets released if Europe has to wait a bit longer than US? I am just curious

I think tomorrow is a 80% chance we get a new update on Cataclysm, and 100% we get it in the upcoming week. What do you think?
I figure an update will come before the end of the month...but we all know that watched pots never boil.
