Unofficial Campaign Tracker for Descent!

By Atom4geVampire, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Ok, so I'm back, and want to show off a new feature that will soon be implemented on the tracker.

I wanted to implement something like this for a while now, but SlimShady0208's post pushed me to finally do it.

A new page will be added where all the properties of monsters can be viewed. This includes Health, Speed, .. but also abilities.

The page will allow you to filter on monsters that have abilities that serve a certain function.

For example: You could select to see only the monsters that have abilities that allows them to move passed heroes. This will show monsters with abilities like Scamper, Fly, Burrow,..

You can then further narrow it down by adding a filter for monsters that can apply the 'Diseased' condition. So you will end up with Carrion Drakes.

Have a team of heroes with low Willpower? Find all monsters that require willpower checks! And so on..

You can view all monsters at once, or can view the monsters specifically for your campaign (based on the expansions you've selected) or even for the specific quest you are playing(based on traits of the quest)!

Here are some images of how it looks:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9tilzju6f8905o9/monsters1.jpg?dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mzgvku0873kv6h7/monsters2.jpg?dl=0 (here I've selected the willpower test filter)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/67gwq5i86ksct48/monsters3.jpg?dl=0 (here I've selected the apply bleed condition filter)

This should be available on the live website when the translations update is deployed. If you have any more ideas for this, let me know!

(I will add a few more filters, like for example a min and max health value, ..)

That is neat! Thanks again for all your hard work Atom4geVampire, you da man!

I would still love the ability to specify which Rumor cards are drawn by the Overlord at the start of a campaign... that is the primary remaining feature I truly wish was present.

As is, it is the one thing I need to always track separately in order to properly maintain the state of my many campaigns.

I'll think about a way to add it. Like I've said before, even though probably 90% of the people that use the site are playing as overlord, I don't want to 'ruin the surprise' for the other 10%.

Those cards have to be entered by the user, and displayed somewhere to the overlord, but what if the overlord is not the user? Then the user is seeing info that he/she shouldn't be seeing.

I suspect that if analytics were performed on app usage, then it would be observed that it is the Overlord player that created the campaign and maintained the tracker. The other heroes would view the campaign without logging in from their own machines, but it is ultimately the Overlord that was inputting the data.

If the flexibility of heroes maintaining the tracker is desired, then there could always be a checkbox on campaign creation to state whether this campaign manages the Rumor cards or not. For hero managed campaigns, the Overlord would not check the box, and would have to maintain the Rumor cards themselves, the way it works now.

Once this is established, then it should be a simple matter of not showing the Overlord Rumor hand except when the server account that created the campaign is logged in and is actively viewing the Overlord stats page. There, the Overlord could visit a "rumor card management" page, and click from a drop down list of available Rumor cards to 'add' them to their hand. They could do this mid-campaign as well, as there are some quest rewards that allow an overlord to 'draw a rumor card', as well as some rumor card effects.

The app will also track when the Overlord states that they have played a given Rumor card and remove it from their list.

I would  this feature. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

Can only speak for our group, here all 5 players check the tracker from time to time, while I am the one tracking the progress. But both OL and heroes have access to it.

Perhaps the rumor cards could be displayed "hidden" like the "OL Intelligence" tab that pops up when clicking on it. With a disclaimer in the title, e.g. "Rumor cards - only for the OL eyes to see", the problem should be solved. I think most heroes are mature enough to control their curiosity, right?

The monster properties page makes a lot of sense and looks fantastic.

I hope to update the site at the end of next week. The site will be down for a small period of time then (the site will indicate exactly when, a bit in advance).

This should make the site available in German, French and Spanish. (Russian might also make it).

Along with that update a lot of fixes and adjustments will also be rolled out.

Fan freakin' tastic work Atom!

You know my 2 bits, my li'l dream is some day you add an edit button to the Gold, XP & Threat amounts, for those who mere mortals who make mistakes or just like to play with house rules from time to time.

Not that I would know anything about that mistake business... *huffpuff grumble grumble*

But even more pressing perhaps, a way to let the tracker know when OL has played a Plot card during the Campaign Phase, like say... Merchant's Guild costing me an extra 50 Gold for Runeplate last time I played... C'mon sis wtf is up with that?!?!?

Edited by Luijod

Hehe :) As I've explained to you in PM, Merchant's Guild seems to be a card I missed amongst the 1000 of cards in the game. I apologize for the mistake, and it will be available when the language update is rolled out. If you send me your campaign id (its in the url) I'd be happy to correct the gold/threat amount. ;)

But some 'cheat' options might be added in the future..

I know Atom baby, I know. Pardon me as I air out our dirty laundry.

But let it be known far and wide, we are a bunch of lukcy mofos to have this guy right here doing some amazing work. I haven't found one thing, besides that **** Merchant's Guild plot card, that does not work properly on Atom4geVampire's Tracker. Praise him for he is our lord and savior! I said praise him you fools!

Better go see an optometrist :P

Anyway, implementing it locally today :)

How did you know I need new glasses? Stop sitting at my windows and watching me sleep Edward...

Not that kind of vampire ;)

Not that kind of vampire ;)

Praise Aulë, Moradin, Grungni, and whomever the Terrinoth equivalent may be!

Sorry guys, update will be delayed for a week. Got a bit carried away with changes/fixes/improvements :)

Just got a mail that my Stewards of the Secret copy has arrived. Will be added tomorrow! (Maybe today if I make it to the store in time)

Stewards has been added!

Just a note, Seer Kel will be listed as Truthseer Kel for now (technical reasons).

That sounds like an interesting problem. :P

Nice (and fast) work like always. :D

Not that interesting :P When you select both H&M packs and the Conversion Kit, it will filter out heroes found in the H&M packs out of the conversion kit, but it does this by name. (Was an easy way at the time)

If her name was Seer Kel instead of Truthseer Kel, then you'd be able to select both the H&M version and the CK version :)

Hello!

first of all, thanks for all your work! The tracker is terrific!

I would like to request a feature...

My group is playing it's second Shadow Rune campaign . In this second run, we want to play the quests we didn't play during the first campaign, which goes against some "quest choice rules" dictated by the rule book.

Last night, we played the interlude "The Overlord Revealed", but, since the heroes won 2 out of 3 of the Act 1 quests, the tracker forces me to choose the "The Shadow Vault" interlude instead.

My request is: could you add the possibility to choose quests freely? Maybe something like this: one of the interludes is initially greyed out, but if he marks a checkbox and press the OK button to a warning dialog, the user can still choose the quest he wants?

Thanks!

Maybe I could look into that. But I'm not in favor of implementing any/many houserules, as not to open some sort of Pandora's box..

Anyway I'll spend the next few days thoroughly testing all the changes I made, but here is an (incomplete) overview of the changes:

(a few of these might already be implemented on the live website)

  • The site is now mulitlingual. Use the dropdown on the right in the navigation bar to switch languages.
  • Added German translations (Thanks to DerDelphi).
  • Added French translations (Thanks to Felin).
  • Added Spanish translations (Thanks to vendettarock).
  • Added the Stewards of the Secret H&M Pack.
  • Added a news section.
  • Added missing functionality for the "Merchants' Guild" card.
  • Fixed an issue where "Deceitful Scribe" would deduct a threat token even if the skills page returned an error.
  • Improved the look of checkboxes on the site.
  • Fixed a bug where the Archaic Scroll would award double the amount of xp of cards returned.
  • Added reward for the "Crown of Destiny" advanced quest.
  • Added reward for the "Lair of the Wyrm" advanced quest.
  • Increased the number of available Overlord cards on the skills page, based on the XP of the Overlord. It should now be possible to buy cards of multiple Levels, even if the requirements were not met when the page was loaded. Improved validation should prevent the buying of higher Level cards before prerequisites have been met.
  • SoN - Arise My Friends: It should now be possible to return lost Corrupt Citizen cards from the Box to the Overlord's cards.
  • SoN - Arise My Friends: Fixed issue where the Soulless Scythe was awarded to the overlord when winning.
  • SoN - It is now possible to indicate multiple Corrupt Citizens as defeated per quest, instead of just one. A situation like this is possible if a master Changeling was reinforced.
  • Fixed an issue with the Ferryman travel event, where it could not be saved if the heroes didn't have enough gold available.
  • Added an overview page for components (items, skills,..) so they can easily be retrieved from the game box(es) if required.
  • Added a new page which shows an overview monsters and their stats and abilities. The page allows you to filter monsters based on certain criteria. This page can also be accessed from the "Quest Info" page during a campaign, and will then be limited to only the monsters eligable for that Quest (per encounter), based on the quest traits.
  • Changed the "Country" field of a group to a dropdown. Please update this in your group's information if needed.
  • Added a password reset functionality.
  • Improved error reporting throughout the site.
  • Added images for Mists of Bilehall quests.
  • Fixed the sell price of Mace of Kellos. It is now 75 instead of 125.
  • Added a story page, which sums up the campaign so far through a collection of small texts. (Unfinished)
  • Rumors can now (optionally) be saved at the start of the campaign, as well drawn/played rumors. The old system is still in place for current campaigns and people who absolutely want to make sure the information remains secret.
  • You can now add expansions to your collection. This will pre-fill the expansion selection on the create campaign page.
  • Improved the mobile version of the website.
  • ...

I hope I can update the site somewhere Sunday/Monday evening!

You are the best Atom! Thanks!!!

Sorry guys, had to take a break from development on the site. If everything goes well, the new version should be around some time this weekend.

Site will be down for the update at 11:00am GMT today. (Which is in about 1 and a half hours from this post)

Be sure to save before that time.

The update is live!

Good job :) Thanks for providing the opportunity and framework to translate the site!
