While on the topic of vehicles I wanted to share my General Weiss paint scheme....

Though you guys make me want to go back and do more with the base.

I wish I could give this two likes! So I reposted it so I can like it again? But seriously fantastic job!!??

Just cleaned up the Nexu's for painting, man where they nightmares, lots of seam lines and flash all over, lots of it. Overall my set seems to have issues with the casting (bubbly pot hole areas in my Stormtroopers, lots of flash etc).
Anyone faced any extra bad casts that was hard to clean up?
Luke was pretty clean, but had that bad canyon seam you had to fill.
E-webbers lots and lots of flash as well.

Thanks Boomer, these are the first pics I've ever posted online. So that means a lot. Of course, I owe it all to Sarastro

Q: What spray primer gives the nicest surface (saving up for a new H&S Evolution airbrush, I have a compressor already)? I can get Citadel (expensive), Vallejo and Army painter. So far I've been using Vallejo white and Army Painter gray (also have a Vallejo light gray primer). Need to get a black primer now and not sure which one to pick (although I've been pretty happy with the Vallejo).

I've had a good experience with the army painter (black and gray) and citadel (white). I used to spray more tentatively and ended up with some spray texture that bothered me, especially on skin. Nowadays, I've been spraying more aggressively so that the whole figure looks wet during the spray which seems to result in a smooth and nice finish. I wouldn't want to overdo it but so far that hasn't been the problem. I'm also still rattle canning for now...

Royal Guard Champion

I found this guy quite difficult to paint despite his relatively simple colour scheme. I felt like every part of the figure had some other part in the way as I was trying to paint him. The cloak, the weapon, the stance, all of it combined to make it a surprisingly awkward job.

I made his entire helmet red because I felt he was too different from the other Guards - the red helmet makes him more part of that fraternity I think :)

Nice work!

And yes, anytime I get to paint a figure that has arms akimbo or that don't come together to hold something near its chest, I weep for joy just a little bit.

Trying out some modulation painting for base layers and highlights with my airbrush.

Doing the weathering right overtook with enamels. The modulation makes it nice so that post-weathering highlights are really needed (also no dry brushing involved in any way).

Side-by-side shot of the modulation style of painting with a before and after on the weathering.

Finished off my AT-ST. Drilled up the guns and added the tufts to the base (Think I will add texture and tufts to the Nexu bases as well, feels like grass around their legs should look right).

Hi

First post.

I started painting (never painted before) some stormtroopers with Sorastro´´´s´ fantastic guide.....Results are incredibly good for what I expected of me painting, so, all credit to his fantastic guide.

Now I want to paint Sandtroopers which seem to be very similar, but want to know which paint should I use for weathering as "nuln Oil" (I use Army Painter Ink Dark Tone as I don´t have Nulln oil) may work, but maybe there is a more accurate sand/oil/rusty paint that may suit better Sandtrooper´s weathering.

Thanks in advance!

Hi mjusto!

You could simply thin down any shade of yellowish or reddish brown that you like to create weathering that would suit the sandtroopers. I used Zandri Dust and some Skrag Brown when I did mine (in Episode 30). Just keep the paint nice and thin and have fun trying some different tones out :)

Here are my paintings based on Sorastro's amazing painting guides. I don't know why my Chewbacca came out so glossy. I'm using matte varnish... pretty weird

He's shiny because he has a healthy coat. -_-

finished my Rancor.

first time using green stuff.

Also my second attempt at a scenic base. This one was a bit more elaborate though. I used some rocks from outside and painted them.

Looks good RL! I really like your basing, great work!

I like to think those are real Tatooine rocks. :P I just picked up some rocks outside in Arizona, and some Tatooine was filmed in this state for RotJ. Close enough. :)

Nice work JediJF! Can I ask which kind of varnish you're using?

Awesome work RogueLieutenant! Really nice work on your rancor - especially that base :)

Thanks a lot!

I painted my stormtroopers with your guide, I will do the bases later....and post a picture too...I think they are not perfect because I´m just starting, but your guide gave great results as tehy look awsome (considering I´´ am new at this).

Thanks a lot for your guides, here it is not easy to get quality paints, so, I´´ will continue with other minis when I get more paints....

As promised, here are two of my 12 painted Stormtroopers....I´ have chosen the ones I considered to be the worst and the best I painted... (both are more or less, but I´ am just starting and they look great seen from far away and tha´ts more than I expected!). Thank´s again to Sorastro!

Remember I left bases for later....

Let us see if you guess which one I consider my worst and which my best an let me know what you think in general. Worst Left or right? =)

Good job, all those Troopers are a pain in the rear :)
Good idea saving the bases until done, then pick the 3 best ones as the elite squad :)

First finished hero, not quite happy but orders of magnitude better than anything i could have managed without @Sorastros guides.
I'm going to put some 'ardcoat on the lenses of the scope and on his glasses and I seriously need to trim that bloody seam of the base (and maybe his boot) and do some repainting there. Never thought I'd be able to do the Rebel patch but worked OK, didn't manage the glass lenses flare though. No varnish on yet so glossier than it will be.

Hello folks!

Sorry it's been so long since my last Imperial Assault video. I hope you enjoy my approach to painting Jabba:

Wow, Jabba looks awsome...

Not a surprise, I would be surprised if something doesn´t look good, but all of Sorastros pinted models are incredible!
