link appears to work. if not and you are board just Google idol master aircraft..lol

as an avid model builder i just don't get why anybody would want to plaster little teenage girls all over a cool aircraft... don't get me wrong I appreciate good "Nose Art" just think the whole Sailor moon teenage Japanese girl fetish is kind of odd..lol

Edited by Swedge

It is a whole sub -genre culture, almost like the pony thing... it must have a name. Go Go Gadget Google Fu!

it is called itasha , which is generally referencing the art of decorating cars in such a way but also used to describe planes.

I approve!

500px-Dlc02_f-15e_01.jpg

Probaly a mutation from having pin-up girls decorating the side of bombers during WWII.

Now all I need is an F-14 with a rule-63 version of Starscream on it.

Transformers_Shoujo_Starscream_by_iq40.j

Yes. This will do nicely.

nose art i get and like.. little teenage girls plastered all over the aircraft.. No..lol matter of fact i got some really cool pictures of nose art on some of the aircraft i worked during the gulf wars. The PC police have of course repainted them by now,,lol didn't know their was an actual word for the manga pin up girls... Yeah dont get the pony thing either but what ever floats your boat...

Edited by Swedge

not only a word, but a whole subculture. There are race cars and oil companies that endorse the use of itasha. million dollar+ racing equipment.

I both love and hate rule 63 -_-

It's just the culture.

I believe that those girls on the planes are from a video game in which you play sing or dance as a popular idol group.

Games like that are very popular over there.

Look at Miku Hatsune for example.

They have a lot of different video games that we never see here, and actually, dating simulator games (and no its not porn or having sex involved) are quite popular with certain groups (not to say everyone plays them)

It's not uncommon for "Otaku" to take things they love and combine the two

In this case anime characters based off popular animation/game and add it to their modeling

Personally i like it, as a huge Japanese anime fan.

Edit I love that starscream one posted above. I'd get that as a tattoo if my wife wouldn't kill me ( lol she hates tattoos)

If your not from Japan or into Japanese things it's kind if hard to explain.

Aaaawww yeah!

Everything can be Kawaii if you add enough cute anime girls to it. Even WWII main battle tanks (Girls und panzer)

I did not know this was even a thing.

Just to be clear, I am by no means into any of this Pony stuff, but considering how many people put up with my Star Wars and Star Trek and Comic Book stuff. As for having my little pony as nose art on an A10 Warthog, my four year old daughter has found her nose art for when she becomes a Marine Corps aviator.

I know the 7-11 there were actually selling some kind of car with neon genesis Evangelion anime colors on it.

(can't post link to it)

Not what I go to the 7-11 for usually.

And it's not like it's not been done before: Several WWII bombers had walt disney characters on their nose art.

I get the anime/gundam/ thing. Grown men plastering/ogling scantly clad little girls on things just seems kind of creepy to me... i have been to Japan a few times and my Brothers wife is Japanese. I guess i am old as I just prefer curvy WOMEN plastered on the side of my F-15. i am also sure that being a Dad of a daughter in college is also making me a bit biased!! lol

My wife is from Japan and I've been there a few times

(moving there in a few years)

It's a different culture where things make more sense if your fr there

I love anime, and I'm 35 years old with a 4 year old boy and daughter on the way any day now.

But when you say it like you do, ya sounds creepy.

Its not like they are little girls. When you say it like that it makes it sound like they're ogling over 8 year old which is entirely not correct.

But there is a thing geeks love over there and that's the whole Kawaii thing which is why you see so many maid cafes and etc there. Kawaii means cuteness and geeks will go nuts over things

Not just anime girls. But just anything that is cute. Hello kitty is another example

You'd never see that in North America.

I have some friends who love collecting the anime figures of nearly naked chicks, and I actually do like the look, quality and design of them, but I'd rather spend 60-400 dollars on generation 1, or vintage transformers/Star wars figures lol.

(though my wife has brought some home for me in the past)

Anyway the images in the original topic looks to me from a popular game, and the girls portrayed are not 10 years old.

Sorry but I don't like when some who don't understand a culture criticize it, and make it sound as though it is wrong.

Then someone else who may not know or understand the culture, read your interruption on it and then they get the wrong idea

One thing I can't stand about north American culture (I am Canadian and live east coast Canada)

So many parents think it's OK for their 8 year old kids to watch and play violent video games like call of duty and resident evil, showing in graphic detail someone getting their throat slit, and blowing people heads off,but all of a sudden their child sees a boob in a video game then parents start calling for a ban.

Same goes with movies.

Many parents I know would let their kids 10 years-old watch a horror move, and as soon as a shower scene with a girl in it they're telling their kids to close their eyes.

I think seeing a boob which is natural and really beautiful (the female body is in more works or art over the centuries) is a lot more harmless than watching violence in games and movies.

Geez when I was in Italy there are works of art everywhere with nude male and female bodies

Good luck trying to get something like that in a place like Texas

The Simpsons portrayed the north American society well in the old Simpson episode where Michelangelo David was coming to Springfield and the townsfolk made a huge deal over it because it portrayed male nudity

Anyway point is its a cultural difference. You don't have to like it,but just don't look down at it. Our culture has its flaws as well.

Anyway not trying to offend you or anything, so please don't take me the wrong way. I just dont want others who do not know get the wrong idea

I actually like the pics posted at the start of this thread.

Looks really cool I think

I now want to paint my Decimator green and have a bikini clad Zephyr Casanova 'sprawled' across it!

... Anyone have the skills to do this? :P

Naw, now let's paint Leia on the side of the falcon cockpit in the slave outfit
