Outrider or Decimator

By gundamv, in X-Wing

I'm going to get both. However, for a variety of reasons, I don't think I'll get both at the same time. I was planning on getting one when it comes out and get the other perhaps around Christmas or the New Year.

Which one do you recommend I get first? I play both Imperials and Rebels regularly and have all expansions except for Imperial Aces, Rebel Transport, and Tantive IV. Right now, I am leaning towards getting the Decimator, as the Imperials don't have a 360 arc ship yet while the Rebels already has the Falcon as a 360 arc ship (if need be, I can proxy the Falcon as the Outrider for the time being). What do you think?

I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking Decimator for the same reason.

Yeah the Decimator feels like a game-changer for the imperials, while the outrider feels like alt-falcon for rebels.

That being said, I most play rebels and the outrider has always been in my top 3 favorite star wars ships, so I'll be getting it first.

The Outrider has more upgrade cards that will work for both factions, so buying it first could have some impact on your Imperial lists.

Decimator 100%. It opens up an amazing amount of list building options and can fulfill the roles of both support and maximum firepower. Most importantly: It looks SO GORRAM SEXY.

While i havnt played with either of the ships yet for me i feel the outrider is the stronger of the two and it mostly comes down to the dial and manuverablity. I think the Decimator will be alittle more predictable in its movements.

*edit: That being said the Decimator is a boss*

The Decimator cause it just looks cool!!!

I love flying my decimator and haven't found the enthusiasm yet to even try the outrider, but then I am mostly an imperial player.

This.

As primarily an imperial player, I've always been frustrated by turrets and have been begging for powerful Empire only upgrades, particularly crew members. So if you've a similar outlook, go with the Decimator. But, that is also a weakness to a typical collector, in that most of the upgrades in the set are Empire only, whereas most upgrades in the Outrider are not faction specific. For that reason, the Outrider is the better choice to affect your ongoing game in the meantime.

Decimator first though I'll probably get both as I can't get hands on a falcon.

Decimator for the ship, Outrider for the cards.

I mean, EI, Lone Wolf and Stay on Target are going to be so useful.

But the Decimator is way cooler, and everyone loves turrets. Plus bombs.

Decimator!!! It is so much fun to fly. As an almost exclusively Empire player, it is so cool to finally have a big ship that doesn't care where you go because it can still shoot you. I have been using it to pretty good effect with a mini swarm or in 150pt games, Whisperer, Soontir, and Jax. So much fun!!

Decimator seems like it would make the game feel very different.

Decimator.

Because the Terrorists ..... Just because.

Cheers

I love the Empire so I would buy the Decimator, greettings.

Decimator is for fun lovers. :)

Decimator, but Super Dash is so fun to play that I've been playing a lot as rebel scum lately. :-)

Whichever one comes with Lone Wolf, obviously. Then put it on a Firespray. FIRESPRAYS!

I just hope the decimator doesnt live up to its name... if it only knocks out 1 in 10 ships i want my money back...

Sadly, I think it will.

The Outrider is poised to completely take over the meta as one of the most powerful and annoying builds possible.

The Decimator could be good... but its going to take a lot more planning. Also, seems like the Vassal people aren't that gaga over it.

The hard counter to the outrider is high ps interceptors and a-wings that can stay at range one.

The decimator is low on agility but set up right can work around that, plus with expose range one five attack dice shots are going to hurt.

looking forward to some Decimater vs falcon action!!! "Ramming speed"...lol

I kinda want the decimator's fleet officer so i can match that up with Rexler get him that extra focus so he can use his ability more effectivly.

Oh. I tried the Fleet Officer on the Shuttle. Its TERRIBLE. The shuttle has a hard time staying relevant and getting shots. it also cant be used in the pincer position, which gives more favorable engagements. The range is tenuous and the shuttle then has a hard time maneuvering through anything.

Seems like what you're really complaining about are the weaknesses of the shuttle...
