AUTOBLASTER BUFFS

But doesn't all this mean that auto blaster plus accuracy corrector is a guaranteed (range notwithstanding) two hits, with no possibility of avoidance?

Expensive, but it sounds potentially brutal on the right ship.

Yup, if you can maintain Range 1 on your enemy, you guarantee 2 damage per attack and can save your action for defense. THAT is the real boon of Accuracy Corrector: always get modified defense rolls without having to sacrifice offensive output.

Man i know i shouldn't be the party pooper, but i don't understand the hype, 5 points, range 1, close damage to 4 anyways against most targets

I think I will be giving autoblaster another go. I think this could be murder on fat han and on high agility ships as well. I agree the syck might be the one who makes the best use of it, but we also will see some agressors running it i think. I'm hoping there will be a variant of IG-88 that lets you link fire cannons, since the ship can take two. dual HLC's ? yes please! Dual ion might be very dangerous against large ships, and dual autoblaster.....well, that's just a whole lot of range 1 awesomeness. I predict seeing it on more forespray builds as well. I've always wanted to like it, so I am going to try it again.

Maybe something along these lines?

"If you have two of the same cannon equipped, in crease your damage roll by half of the base damage value."

Just add a +1 attack dice and be done with it.

Assuming I understand what you mean here, you don't see a potential problem with allowing a ship with two HLCs to effectively have 6 Attack?

For 14+ points worth of upgrades? Not really, since it's over half your list on only one attack. There are ways to get it up that high anyway. Also, if this is the way it goes, I assume FFG would put some sort of limiter on it (stress, skip your next attack, etc). I was only throwing out a hypothesis on the buff part.

Damage potential is much higher. 7 extra points, is not the same as moving a 4 attack dice to 6 attack dice.

For example, against 3 agility targets, the HLC gives you overall by 7 points, 0,65 extra damage. Meanwhile, if it worked like you are asking, extra 14, would net you extra 1,9, basically two times better than the first HLC upgrade nets you.

This would mean if we assume the HLC cost is balanced, it would require to cost 7 points for the first HLC and 14 for the second HLC, for a total 21 points to continue being balanced. Those extra 7 points, are a 7% of the list. It is not a small number.

Edit - by the way, either agility rolls and attack rolls use the "focus" action.

I did say 14+. No way this would be a 0 point upgrade! Even with any sort of likely drawback.
