Will there be PS9 Scum Pilots?

By TheRealStarkiller, in X-Wing

I think for game balance, we'll see one, probably two. The question is which ship release and what pilot would it be?

Azzameen seems like a good candidate, but I'm not sure if the yt2000 is likely, but they did do the decimator and hwk, so who knows.

I thought the idea was because the S&V lack military training they'll have a lower PS across the board than the first two factions.

In the real world I am a pilot. I fly with a lot of retired military pilots. When pilots start their careers in the airforce, the best pilots in the initial flight school are assigned to fighters and the worst are assigned to transport aircraft. 20 years later when they retire, the transport pilots are much better pilots then the fighter jocks. This is because the C130 pilot flies thousands of hours more then his buddy who flies a F15. While natural talent plays a role in pilot skill, it is trumped by flight experience.

I would argue that the S&V should not suffer from low pilot skill. I bet the average smuggler flies more then the average fighter jock and that Han Solo got more of his skills running contraband then he did from Imperial flight training.

9 is for legendary pilots. Maarek and Keyan only made 7.

Remember that PS9 means better than Luke Skywalker.

Low pilot skill I reckon's part of their faction identity though, so I don't expect them to get a 9. Especially not two.

but in the end both pilots had proper training even if it was in different types of craft, by contrast the types who work for warlords and crime bosses could just be some punk that stole a ship, a veteran that got burnt and has mental issues or a drugs problem that makes him less than a stable individual, the merc could rival bobba fett on the ground but be less than stellar in the cockpit but the job paid well so he took it etc.

And lets face it if their in it for the credits and not the cause they wont be as willing to lay down their life and so will let the threat of imminent death distract them while a true believer accepts the possibility and puts all his focus into winning over surviving.

But mainly its just to distinguish them from the original two factions and your all over thinking it as usual...nerds (i'm making it a thing and i'm included in the nerds :) )

I really wouldn't make that a thing if you like being liked.

I don't see the YT-2000 happening for S&V just because it's so simmilar to two rebel ships, and S&V already have three rebel ships. The VT-666 and Jumpmaster 5000 would give S&V more faction unique designs, plus their pilots are more well known.

I do like being liked...

Isn't Fett a pilot skill 8? So out of the gate we know there will be above 7.

Good call.

I forgot about Fett being PS 8.

Still though, the point remains that at least the majority of Scum will be low PS.

I don't think Ace Azameen will be a PS9. He just isn't well know enough and a lot of what goes into a PS9 pilot is fluff.

He also seems like he would more likely end as a Rebellion pilot as well.

By that argument, Wedge's antics are as well known as Vader's, but ask any run of the mill Star Wars fan who wedge is and they'll say, "Wedge who? You mean that guy in the death star run?". It's the guys like us that know him.

I believe Wedge's name is mentioned a couple times in the original trilogy Ace's isn't. I would say Wedge's appearance's in the Rogue Squadron games and his movie presence would more than surpass any of Ace's exploits for the "general" Star Wars fan.

No because Boba Fett is the best of the best, and he is an 8.

I don't think the lack of training will stop a ps9 scum pilot. Natural talent would produce at least one, so I think we will see one, maybe two at a push.

Ex military pilots, naturally good pilots, and so on, can have very high PS.

Couldn't agree more.

This is why I expect to see Ace Azameen. We've already seen Emon, so I expect that we'll also see his little brother- who was an undeniably freaking amazing pilot.

Oh now, that's just ego right there since he is the player character!

Don't blame me, blame the devs

Boba is a great bounty hunter, but that doesn't mean he's the best pilot.
