You fail the roll and the NPC does not ant to split the pair up and it will be an extremely difficult roll.

Just a quick point that the roll should probably be Charm rather than Cool. Cool would be the roll to resist.

And while Coolness is not a roll, it's probably a fair estimation of the appearance of a matched set of dueling pistols.
