New article for Armada is up on the home page (at last) and down at the bottom of the page is a nice pic of a Star Destroyer firing Advanced Concussion Missiles. I wonder if these might make an appearance in X-Wing?

That was what was tagged to the picture. Given that the shooting stats for Armada are pretty generalised, I don't think we'll see them as a separate weapon system for that game, but for X-Wing...?

The important question here is what role would advanced concussion missiles have that has not already been done? We have "standard" concussion missile with a range 2-3 4-dice attack and a bit of dice modification, "better in every way" homing missiles, short-range nuke proton rockets, niche role assault and ion pulse missiles, and mid-range dice spam cluster missiles. The fluff of advanced concussion missiles ("better in every way, especially against fast targets") overlaps almost completely with homing missiles, and doing an APT equivalent overlaps with proton rockets. And I'd rather have no advanced concussion missiles at all than a clumsy attempt at forcing them into the game just so they exist.

missile that deals no or minimal damage, but reduces attack value? Could definitely have its uses if it's not overpriced.

Why would that be useful at all? The whole point of missiles and torpedoes is to cause damage, and the only way to do that is to draw damage cards.

They would strip shields. Kind of a neat idea. Would need to be cheap.

So like a 3pt missile that has 4 firepower and doesn't spend it's lock but can only break down shields? ...That's actually very intriguing. Would love more range 1-2 missiles and torpedoes anyway. I'll have to dream about this now. Cheers!

Just thinking this through. I feel if we see Advanced Missiles of some sort in X-Wing they will probable be Capital Ship Only Ordinance anyway. So would be pretty ineffective verses snub fighters.

The Star Wars universe does have shield strippers.

Look up Intruder Missiles.

I also believe the "Egg" bombs used in Dark Fleet Crisis were shield strippers as well.

I like the idea of shield-stripping missiles.

Fins can just be locations to mount thrusters to increase the moment the thruster can impart without making the thruster bigger.

I would much prefer a missile that bypassed shields than strips shields, since almost everything at this point strips shields first...

Pretty sure they are Assault Missiles but I would like to see Adv Concussion someday.

I would start with the current Concussion Missile, Drop the range to 1 as in the Adv Protons, then I would have it reduce the target maneuverability by 2. For 5-6 points.

I do think something more effective against shields might be interesting. In Mass Effect, weapons with higher rates of fire tended to strip shields faster. If I remember correctly, the shield generators expended more energy blocking 3 weak projectiles than one powerful one.

A similar mechanic could be interesting in the game as a cannon or turret.

Wasn't the New Republic method of getting past the Coralskipper's Dovin Basals like this?

How about a rapid fire mod? Triple your attack but immediately before comparing dice flip all {hit} and {focus} to blank.

It was mentioned earlier on here, but I'm all for looking for something that bypasses shields over something that strips them faster. Concussion actually makes sense for this too. Maybe something like:

Attack: Target Lock

Roll two attack dice. For every Hit, deal one face-down damage card. For every crit, deal one face-up damage card.
