Kath/Rex/Backstabber - Sound or Stupid?

Shame you don't have a bomber

You could try Jonnus with 2 defenders + HLCs

**** fun list

A couple of Bombers are on my Christmas list :)

Given you have just a three-ship build, consider dropping Stealth Device off of both ships (almost never worth the points, IMO), Vet. Instincts off of Brath, and add an HLC to Brath. That way you have a heavier-hitting force with your three ships. You must be able to deal damage with a limited number of ships.

I have backed myself into a corner by wanting a Defender, a Firespray and HLC. Just that is 70 points and low PS. Taking off HLC would open things up a lot for me.

I could even fit in two defenders in.....Do people do that? Sounds like an intimidating squad, albeit very low in PS.

Currently, the only time SDs are worth it is on Dark Curse.

I would give Rexler Predator and the HLC. Predator is key to his success. It saves his focus. If he can land 3 or 4 hits with the HLC without spending focus, he can burn that focus making all those crits. If you dont build to capitalize on his ability, then you are better off with Vessery with VI.

Lieutenant Lorrir is 23 points. Below that you're looking at Alpha Squadron Pilots or your original TIE plan. There are some nice things at 24 (Doomshuttle, Captain Yorr, two Academy Pilots, Kir Kanos, Saber Squadron Pilot PTL) but you'd need to drop either one of the two ships you want to use or the HLC to do that. And once you do, you open up a much bigger bracket of ships (that gives you 30 points to play with, but once again costs you the HLC).

Hits hard unless your mate decides to be a **** and fly a chewie falcon with 3PO....then it just becomes a slow grind because your getting loads of hits and crits because of re-rolls but he ignores them BECAUSE HE'S FRICKEN CHEWIE!

Not that i'm bitter or anything, I STILL WON! 16 long turns though...

Brath ignores Chewie's ability if you use 'im.

I'm talking about the jonas brothers build in that post.

So Predator would give me a better chance with HLC, and with that re-roll (possibly 2) in mind I could use the focus to flip what I get up. Then hope upon hope that if I can 2 or 3 cards into crits they'll draw a direct hit!

I've basically said it back to you haven't I. Just proving to myself I understand.

At the moment I'm on Rexlar with HLC and Predator (very keen on that idea now I've heard it).

Then there is a Firespray. Since it's a lower PS ship it could make a lovely blocker with a big shooting range. It's also a tank as we've mentioned before.

That leaves 20 points, which is either Backstabber and 4 points to play with or an Avenger Squint. The Avenger would always have 3 attack but having BS would allow me to work on the Rex and BH more?

Go with Dark Curse with the SD. Very hard to kill.

Yeah he would be hard to kill, but he's also not much threat so he won't be drawing much fire away from Rex.

At a tourney you want your late game piece to be able to do some damage.

That's where backstabber is better.

Will you have time to test your build b4 your tourney??

I've had fun/success with

Rexler + Predator

Kath + Predator + Rebel Captive

Backstabber

Most people go after Backstabber first, which leaves Kath + Rex taking less damage early on. Keep Rex back until you pop their shields, then unleash that beautiful bean critical footage.

Lets say you go for

Rex + predator + HLC

BH

Backstabber

4 points for either a shield upgrade or hull upgrade + either vet instinct or 1 point for ps bid

Any of these ships that make late game are great finishers

Well then. Last night did not go well! Played two games and neither went how I thought they would. A lot of it was how I started the game position wise, but I was completely undone by a Z swarm backed by an E and then 2 Bs and a Han Falcon.

I shouldn't have faced them head on and should have set up on the other side from them to give time for positioning.

It basically taught me exactly what not to do! But now I'm torn and I think I'll retreat to safety and use a similar squad to the one I finished second with in my first tournament. Defender with Howl and TIEs. I just don't feel confident with three ships :(
