Love the response
Good secrecy deck: merry and pippin ^^. And put into play play Boromir with Elf Stone.
I like it.
Does his response trigger if something like Gondorian Discipline is used to cancel all damage?
And I suppose this means the final ally will be Leadership.
Excellent card, very thematic. Pairs well with hobbits (gotta protect the little ones), has hero tier stats, and is a great defender all around (not battered by a few orcish arrows!)
It had to be really good to compete with Boromir hero version and it works imo.
Very nice.
Only flaw are the competing versions in multiplayer games.

Nope. Cancelled damage is never taken.
Wow definitely helps out Secrecy and Hobbits. Now let's see how long it takes to play him...
Really like his abilities and stats although I do find it...inconvienant that he is best used in a low threat deck yet is tactics which is the most threat-unfriendly sphere there is and costs 4 to boot so you either require a heavy devotion to tactics which may screw your threat or more likely rely on elf-stoning him into play. Almost reminds me of hero Faramir who's ability and stats almost contradict each other. Once he is out tho, he can definetly act as a 4th hero very strong especially if you consistently activate his ability
As someone that plays a lot of secrecy and hobbits, I'm very excited about the new Boromir! He can team up with Merry to take down some tough enemies. Although it's a shame he can't use any tactics attachments except Spear of the Citadel. I could see giving him Self Preservation so he can consistently use his response.

I doubt I'd ever pay his price. Elf-stone, Very Good Tale, and Timely Aid are all staples in my Hobbit deck (the archetype that Boromir fits into the best) and easy ways to bring him in on the cheap.
Personally, I like that we have three different Boromirs that each capture a different aspect of his character. Leadership Boromir: Captain of Gondor; Tactics Boromir: self-sacrificing warrior; and Ally Boromir: defender of the halflings. Sure there's some overlap between the Tactics hero and the Tactics ally (drawing from similar moments from the books), but each is distinct enough in the way it plays in the game to be unique.
I think jjenks476 meant "let's see when he'll be released."
This is an awesome ally, very happy to see him!
Yeah, the most problematic thing here that I see is he fits into hobbits and it'll be hard to get him out there.
I think this is a great ally. The art is great, though I would maybe have preferred one that we hadn't already seen, but who cares, it's Chris Rahn doing ally Boromir's art. That's awesome. The ability is of course very good and will work great in the Hobbit deck, though as some said above I can't see him in many other decks really. I do think he fits well in a Vilya deck or a secrecy Timely Aid deck like Beorn's.
Looks good to me. Looking forward to playing him.
I normally just play 1 deck, but with the amount of new cards coming out and wanting to play the whole fellowship, i might have to go 2 handed.
My hope is that we will see Gimli leadership for the last ally to make it possible. If they do I'll go 2 handed for sure.
Love the art!
Looks really cool to play him in a Hobbit deck and also fine thematic!
Great stats, 4th hero Bromir
It's a shame they still keep missing the Noble trait....
Really like the response, a new mechanic to play with and I'm all for fellowship allies ![]()
Hard to see when i would include him outside of a Vilya or hobbit deck - but I like both. (unless - or hopefully until - a fellowship deck(s) is possible and card cost and starting threat be dammed).

Can't we already do the full Fellowship with 2 decks now that we have a Boromir Ally? At least for the Saga quests where you have Frodo/Aragorn as Fellowship heroes. 6 heroes + fellowship hero, Boromir Ally, and Gandalf Ally makes 9.
As a solo player I really wanted to get ally versions of Legolas and Gimli for this box.
I can see myself using Boromir without secrecy. You'd definitely need to include Gondorian Discipline and Close Call due to his low defense at that point, but you can cancel enough damage to keep him alive but still have him take damage to ready for another defend or an attack. Some repeatable healing would also be nice, but honestly, he's usable simply as an attacker and then as a defender/damage soak when you really need it. You don't have to try to work the deck around him always defending.

Haha. You're probably right. I should just assume every reference to playing a card is about the wait at this point.

You are correct, although I'm more interested in playing Gandalf as hero, which would call for the ally version of Legolas or Gimli. But you are correct it can be done. With Gandalf Hobbit version and Aragorn Lore you could probably even feep Gandalf in the game for awhile too.
Although, I'm not super excited to use Tactics Gimli. Maybe a deck with 3 hobbits from TBR, and another deck with Gimil, Legolas and Aragorn lore or core. I've tried a three hunters deck like these before, but they were pretty poor, maybe it will be better on these scenarios. Gandalf and Boromir Allies complete the fellowship. So, yes it can be done.
Interesting that spirit is not represented strongly here. I think this was also the case with building dwarf decks during the hobbit sagas, or maybe that was tactics.
He's a good candidate for a sword of Morthond if someone's playing an Outlands deck too.
****, hes strong! Will most definitely be using him! Gonna make a proxy tonight and try him out considering TRD has been delayed.... surprise surprise....
Hes so insanely thematic which is really cool as well. He can sacrifice himself to block a barrage of attacks from multiple enemies. That art is pretty awesome too. Will now have both Faramir and Boromir as allies in my leadership/tactics deck, Elrohir and Elladan as Heroes and also have Rumil in this deck and run Haldir as a hero for my other deck and will more than likely Orophin. Should rename my decks the brotherhood decks!!
