One Good Reason: Why You Love X-Wing.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

What is the one thing that you love the most about STAR WARS X-WING & EPIC?

:)

For me that one good reason is the visually pleasing aesthetics of the models. Setting up a table full of these wonderful ships small, large, and huge, is my favorite part of the hobby.

^_^

The thrill of outmaneuvering your opponent.

I love SW, I love the models, the pilots and everything, but I'd play a flight path game just ship bases. Nothing is more satisfying than anticipating your opponent's maneuvers and flipping behind them.

I'm with you on the look of the game. I love all these toys. I'll add to it the dynamic aspect of a game whose every piece is in motion, even if the shuttle does stalk sometimes.

The board flows and that is like the feeling of the movie dogfights, very immersive.

The community of players. Who all love this Star Wars themed amalgamation of Chess and Yahtzee.

Honestly? The amazing quality of the models and the affordable price. It's everything my desk ever wanted.

And it just so happens to be attached to a totally baller game.

It's the sort of game that you really lose yourself in: you forget you're playing with plastic ships, cardboard templates and fiddling around with dice and cards. Every loss and victory feels significant, every stage of planning and working with your ships feels important, and I enjoy spending time with my opponents. Bottom line is the game is an absolute blast to play, and even when I lose badly I have fun and learn something. This game with its community is one of the best things to happen to me in years.

Simplicity and elegance.

Win or Lose, its always fun and lots of laughs! Not just my group the community as a whole.

I love that I actually feel a part of the Star Wars universe while playing. It's a very cinematic game, and actually flying these pilots and these ships makes me feel a part of the universe. I've played many Star Wars games over the past decades, and this is the game that has felt the most like I'm experiencing Star Wars.

A gateway back to my childhood.

These are all great reasons to love this awesome game!

^_^

The way movement makes the game about more than using a superior list, but actually flying it well.

Ever since I had the old Micro Machine ships I wanted to play a table top game with them. I even figured a version myself when I was teenager with a big sewing pattern grid my mother had and paper cutouts for larger capital ships and using dice to attack with and SWCCG cards to track hit points. It took forever to play and was far from balanced and was completely lacking in nuance.

This game fills that desire PERFECTLY and does it so well as to be lacking nothing.

It brings me back to my days playing the X-Wing space sim series, but in tabletop form!!!

I did that too Doc-Z. I used AD&D rules and the whole AC and HP thing with Dragon Dice. I had STAR WARS and STAR TREK Micro Machines toys in the dozens back then and my best friends and I had great battles... in both universes.

^_^

All the above

Because I like saying "Never tell me the odds" or making Pew Pew! noises while playing with little plastic toys against my fellow fully grown adult gamers on the weekends.

I knew I was going to get deep in this game once the Defender was announced.

I get to play with Star Wars toys with my kids.

I love the way that it triggers the subliminal programming placed in my brain 37 years ago, by George Lucas, and forces me to spend all my available cash on Toy spaceships. :)

It got you too... huh?

;)

Solid system - simple and elegant with tactical depth

Fast games

Good miniatures

Affordable

Many opponents

I really like the sight of ships on A table that you can look and touch. It brings out the character of the franchise more than a video game would. Not saying that I don't like video games but a physical collection is more impressive than a virtual collection.

Simplicity and elegance.

Same here. Mechanics for the core set were brilliantly made for simplicity. It allows for easy learning of the game, but takes effort and time to master. I love those types of games. Batman Arkham Games are a great example of what I mean

.

The first rule of X Wing.... You DO talk about X Wing.

The second rule of X Wing is.... You do make outlandish predictions and speculations on X Wing

The third rule of X Wing... You DO'NT talk about Attack Dragon Wingy thingy.
