Squint Squad...

By Martel, in X-Wing

Royal Guard Pilot w/ Opportunist is an unholy monster of death at 26 points.

At PS6 he moves after most ships and can potentially roll 5 dice at range 1. It's like a cheaper phantom with a dramatically better dial.

Just give him a higher PS buddy (pairs well with Soontir or Jax) and add Hull Upgrade, Shield Upgrade or Stealth Device to taste.

This might be fun to try out with Echo, Whisper or Rexler (with cannon) as well. With that many dice you're bound to strip whatever you're shooting at, leaving the five dice Interceptor free to take the target apart.

I don't know what the upcoming fix is for interceptors is but it has me excited it's nice we have a dev team that does not turn a blind eye when certain units are not seeing play.

I love squints.

But why make a list with all flankers? I've never understood the 3 squint squad for that reason.

Not having a big bulky target takes away the whole advantage of flanking.

Its like building a medieval army with nothing but calvary.

I think there is a certain classiness to throwing down four squints. Maybe I am a fluff player.

Oh, don't get me wrong. Running all squints looks cool as hell. Possibly my favorite ship in the game. For fun and fluff, anything works. My comment was more directed to the competitiveness of being able to successfully fly and win all squints.

And in that regard, flying all flankers simply doesn't make much tactical sense.

True that. I haven't had all that much success with all Interceptor lists either. Three and a Lambda, on the other hand... ;)

Interceptors were destined to be my favourites, but today I finally tried them (multiple times) and they stick to that even harder. Truth is I havenť faced Falcon, only small ships with firing arcs begging me to dodge them but as such, I love my 3 ship build (probably not competitive).

Soontir Fel (PtL, Shield and Hull Upgrades)

Carnor Jax (PtL, Shield and Hull Upgrades)

Turr Phenirr (Targeting Computer)

The idea is to fly Fel an Jax near each other and harass enemies with Turr. I made scrumbled eggs of a B-Wing today, destroying it in one focused volley as it couldn´t use its focus and the best thing was, that thanks to that shot barrel-rolled with Turr out of the firing arc of enemy dogfighters. Fel was under fire as the only one and he got both focus and evade to help him survive (Range two shots). After Ten Numb being downed in third round, Rebel scum was utterly crushed with Empire´s iron fist!

True that. I haven't had all that much success with all Interceptor lists either. Three and a Lambda, on the other hand... ;)

Sure. Flankers need a bulky target to help keep the heat off them.

"Yeah, go beat up my fat friend over there.. Dont mind me, I'll just be behind you shooting lasers up your tail pipe."

I've had success and fun (fluff) by flying 2 shuttles and 2 Royal Guards. 12 atk and 26 HP is a solid list. Lots of ways to play the list too. Fun times.

I wouldn't fly Intys without PTL and a high PS. Preferrably both, but I'll take PTL over PS. If you want 4 Intys, might as well go with 4 Royals with PTL.

My all time favorite. It's just fun to fly.

I have went 3-1 (top 3 with those wins) with INts lately. Even vs super chewy and lando.

list 1 -

2 royals PTL

2 Sabers Oppertunist

list 2 -

2 roayls PTL

Jax PTL

Howl swarm

list 3 was 5 ints for a escolation tourny
