Give it a go! Personally, once I get my second Aces pack, I'm going to try this out:
Turr Phennir (25)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Sabre Squadron Pilot (21)
Push the Limit (3)
Royal Guard Pilot (22)
Push the Limit (3)
Royal Guard Pilot (22)
Push the Limit (3)
Without PTL on any of them, you will really have to fly your a** off with them to stay out of arcs while doing consistent damage at the same time. 12 hit points can go very quickly.
I wouldn't fly Intys without PTL and a high PS. Preferrably both, but I'll take PTL over PS. If you want 4 Intys, might as well go with 4 Royals with PTL.

These two covered it! I love Intys and they are most effective with high PS and PTL!

In particular, Soontir without PtL is arguably one of the worst pilots in the game. His ship is fragile, his ability only triggers when you K-turn (so at best you'll only get it every second round), and even when it does trigger a lone Focus token is not much to brag about. It's only when you add PtL that he becomes the arc-dodging, hard-hitting monster everybody loves.
Thanks for the great advise guys.
PTL does look just the thing for Tie Ints.
Whenever making a list with Soontir, you mine as well just treat his base cost of 30, because you will ALWAYS want PTL on him

Gutsy! I like it! Post a battle report here after you've tried it.

True, Fel shines with Push the Limit. But with so many stress mechanics, I wonder how he'll do without Push the Limit...okay, he'll get destroyed, but still there's that part of me that wants to see it work.

You could always try that build with Jax instead of fel

Is it likely that you lose the benefit of their mobility with so many on the board? Or is it just that you are generally better off with 7 or 8 tie fighters, rather than 4 or 5 interceptors?

Depends on what you're doing with said Interceptors. 4 Royal Guard Pilots with PtL is still a good squad, though it does demand you fly extremely well as you're entire list has less HP than a single Falcon. But if you're just going to slam 5+ grunt units like Alphas or Avengers then you're generally better off with the TIE Fighter equivalents.
Without PtL or possibly some other reliable and useful stressor you're better off fielding someone other than Fel. I'd definitely point to Jax as a good "non-Fel" Interceptor to use as his ability doesn't require taking stress although it does ask that you get close. Jax + VI costs the same as Fel but has a higher PS and an ability that will likely see more use.
I run VI on both my royal guard interceptors.
Gotta love no+name generic pilots with PS8.

Take a PTL card and glue it to your Soontir Fel card. And to all of the others.

No no no no no no! Soontir needs PTL. You might as well throw him away if you're not gonna use PTL. He'll die in 2 turns.
Listen to people, you need PTL on soontir he needs that stress to stack abilities or he dies fast, never trust green dice.
Royal Guard Pilot w/ Opportunist is an unholy monster of death at 26 points.
At PS6 he moves after most ships and can potentially roll 5 dice at range 1. It's like a cheaper phantom with a dramatically better dial.
Just give him a higher PS buddy (pairs well with Soontir or Jax) and add Hull Upgrade, Shield Upgrade or Stealth Device to taste.
I love squints.
But why make a list with all flankers? I've never understood the 3 squint squad for that reason.
Not having a big bulky target takes away the whole advantage of flanking.
Its like building a medieval army with nothing but calvary.

I kind of agree. The only all squint squad that is decently competitive is the 4XRGP+PTL. But even that squad will see very mixed results depending on what its up against and how you fly. Best bet is to run them in pairs. They have to go after one group which leaves the other pair open to flank. If he splits his forces, you still have a better situation on your hands.
I've run this for a while:
Soontir, ptl, tc
royal, ptl tc
lorrir
alpha.
exactly 100 pts
It is a lot of fun, ptl tc combination is awesome. One game I killed a tooled up han in two rounds with Soontir, royal and Lorrir while the alpha was distracting the rookies. I did not even need Lorrir the second turn. The damage output of tl with focus is just fantastic.
This was also before the initiative changes. With Soontir you don't want it.
That said, 4 squint squads have a major weakness, low hull. They are the worst jousters out there. This means, since usually at least some ships will fly at eachother whilst others are flanking, you will lose at least one and maybe two ships in the opening round. It is very hard to flank with all four interceptors if not impossible.
After a while I traded in Lorrir for a doomshuttle and downgraded the royal to a saber. This gives your opponent an obvious target to fly at while your two sabers flank and the alpha blocks. This list gave me much better results.
So yeah, I guess I agree with the two posters above me

I think there is a certain classiness to throwing down four squints. Maybe I am a fluff player.

Indeed. There is an elegance about flying TIE Interceptors.
Random thought. Does a squad of squints = a squid?
