For me it is the x-wing, always loved it in the movies, love the look of it and had one as a toy that could open it's wings when I pressed a button. Also when I was young I really loved to see the wings open, when I think of it... I still love that part :-D
Edited by VissahWhat ship do you have a positive emotional attachment to?
I loved the Falcon, I loved it with a passion.
I loved its awkward shape and beat down look.
And 30 years on nothing has changed, I still love it.
Shame I only play imperial.![]()
Obviously the TIE Interceptor. Fast, dagger-like and evil looking. Fun to play too.
Really cool story, and it was far from a rant rest assured, thanks for sharing with us.
I'm gonna be 21, been into Star Wars all my life. My family (both sides) had been too, not necessarily en masse, but even so I got exposed and immersed pretty early on.
My first videogame EVER was actually the PS1 rail shooter "Rebel Assault" which planted a seed that did not materialize for awhile, that seed was the idea of the Expanded Universe and the many awesome things it brought to the table of Star Wars. Yeah, a lotta garbage too, but that's another debacle. I quickly acquired many of the guidebooks, the first ones I remember being the Essential guides to vehicles/vessels and weapons. From there I learned of a plethora of ships that existed behind the scenes of the films, in the EU. That was when I first encountered the YT-2400 which you're obviously quite fond of as well. It quickly became a favorite of mine thanks to its cool aesthetic, and Dash Rendar was always one of my favorite good guys, particularly with his droid sidekick and very mysterious story.
Others include the B-wing, I just love the silhouette and the firepower, and the Y-wing if I'm feeling old school, which I do, quite often. They remain favorites in many of my X-wing games and I even have a 3d printed YT-2400 until the real deal comes out.
Great post!

I've been a member on this site since the beginning of July and all I really did was lurk around, just reading different threads such as what ships were better, how great wave X was going to be, and what the new Imperial huge ship was going to be. None of these threads however, stuck out to me like this one.
I remember reading this on the bus when you first posted this, and I almost cried. I had meant to make my first post right when I got home to my computer but something happened (I'm not too sure what) and I never did. Now because of that, I had lost this thread in the abyss and could not find it if my life depended on in it (mainly due to the fact that the search function on this forum is bantha fodder). Finally, I came across this once again and I did not want to miss my opportunity to post something.
First of all, I agree 100% with you;
No other ship than the Outrider so perfectly captures that sense of dashing rogue-like adventure.
The Outrider has always been my favourite ship... Ever.
I was probably 3 when I was first introduced to Star Wars so for me, I don't really know what life is like without it. My brother is 5 years older than me so at the time, and was old enough to kinda grasp what exactly happened in the movie, so he would talk to me about it, show me books, pictures, games, etc. Then a few years later, my brother was given an N64 (which probably made me happier than him). Now one of the games my brother bought for it was Shadows of the Empire which he completed pretty fast while I sat there and watched him. After he finished the last mission, he let me play under the condition that I didn't start a new game, so I had to play on his saved game and this meant that I had access to play any of the missions I wanted. Now because of this, I constantly played the mission where Dash lands on Gall to find Boba Fett (later on I played the whole game multiple times over on PC and N64). At the beginning of this level, (spoiler in case anyone has lived in a hole and hasn't played it yet) you could walk inside and around the Outrider, and you could even jump on top of it to get a challenge point or an extra life. To me, this was awesome to actually be able to walk in and around a space ship, and I spent a long time pretending that I was living on the ship as Dash Rendar. So because of my age at the time, I ended up falling in love with the Outrider (along with Dash and Leebo), which was way more than I liked the Millennium Falcon, Han and Chewie.
Now the funny thing is that when I first saw the X-wing miniatures game, the first thing I asked was if the Outrider was going to be available, which was some time in February or March last year. Of course, the answer was no, so I never really got into the game because of how disappointed I was. It was only in May of this year that I started playing, only because I saw that the HWK was available, which to me meant that the Outrider was just around the corner. Now here I am, playing X-wing with my brother many years later, and it feels like I'm in the past playing Shadows of the Empire again with my brother. My level of happiness is, well, really happy.
So I guess what I wanted to tell you is that your connection with the ship is very moving to me. I had no idea that anyone else felt as attached to the Outrider/YT-2400 as I am (probably more in your case). My heart goes out to you.
1.Tie fighter
2.Falcon
3.Slave 1
The TIE Phantom was a childhood memory brought to life. It is why I got into the game. It helps that I love mobility, which the ship has in spades, and that the pilots are women.
For me it's the TIE Avenger. My youth was spent playing hour upon hour upon hour of X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and my favourite ship was always the TIE Avenger (aka TIE Advanced!). The speed! The firepower! and... what's this? Shields on an Imperial fighter? Heck yeah! I destroyed hundreds of every ship, from Z-95 Headhunters up to space stations and Mon Cal cruisers.
The only bad bit for me is that FFG haven't released it yet :'(
I was 8 when I saw Star Wars the first time in 1977. Old enough to get the story, and completely and utterly blown away by the movie.
For me it's got to be the CR-90. Because it's a cool looking ship, but mostly because every time I look at it, I'm reminded even if just a tiny bit of the opening of ANH and that sense of awe. I always felt a bit bad for people younger than me in a way, because they'll never be able to appreciate the opening of that movie the same way I did. Especially those much younger... To them it's just the opening of a movie...
They for the most part can't quite appreciate just how mind blowing that was compared to everything else people had seen up to that point. The massive size of the ISD as it just kept going, and going and going...
Next is the X-Wing because again it's a way cool looking ship, but also because it was the ship that Luke Skywalker the hero of the Rebellion who used the force to destroy the Death Star.

Of course I have an attachment to the Falcon, to X-Wings, TIE's in most of their variations, Star Destroyers.
But there are two ships that I've always had an attachment to beyond what could be reasonably explained, it's not as if they had a lot of screen time.
First one is the Nebulon-B Frigate, I love it and can't wait for a model.
But my biggest love is

Give me any ship in the universe to choose from and this is the one I'd pick in a heartbeat.
It is, to me, the ship that started it all. The first ship you see, the first ship I fell in love with, never changed my mind.
Id have to say it was the Hwk-290 that really got me to pick up this game. While i do love the ties and x-wings seeing that this game wasn't just about the movies ships but other games too that really got me to stop and take a look.
I have many fond memories taking turns playing TIE Fighter with a friend in middle school. Have to say Tie Avenger because it was the first Tie that could really fight the Rebs on equal footing!
Star Wars has been a big part of my life since it came out. The original movie was the first movie that I saw in a theater, when I was five (before it was Episode IV). I've seen every movie in both trilogies in theaters, multiple times each. I haven't gotten into the EU as much as other fans, but I had a lot of fun playing Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, and I've started reading the Rogue Squadron books after getting into the game.
I really enjoy the X-Wing and TIE Fighter, even though I rarely fly either of those ships these days.
A-Wings - I love the mission profile, and my favorite pilot, Tycho Celchu, flew one in the Battle of Endor. Plus, I think they look really awesome.
Aah... fond memories of destroying computer mice from playing TIE Fighter for hours on end. Much later came Michael Stackpole's X-Wing series. I own all of them, and have read them multiple times. While they aren't fiction gold, they are undeniably enjoyable.
I have owned the core set from wave 1, but never really played until Wave 4 and the release of the TIE Defender. Can't wait for the assault gunboat... (I can hope)
I just wish I had time to play TIE Fighter again now that GoG.com has released it.
Edited by StarWarsDad1138CR-90 and the Y-wing are my faves. Also really like the tie bomber. I go out and get in my Y-wing every day to go to work. It helps that it is an old beat up pick up truck that has 3 different pain colors. It fits as a scum Y
I love the X-wing. No other ship in Star Wars gets me as excited about space combat as the good old T-65. Being born in the late 80s, my first exposure to Star Wars was on an old VHS copy of ANH at a friends house after playing baseball. I was hooked on the X-wing after that. I wanted to be Luke, flying around shooting down TIEs. My favorite color is Red and my favorite number is 5 and there is no doubt in my mind where that came from. I saved any money I received during Christmas or my Birthday and spent it all on action fleet X-wings (I was lucky that my brother loved being the Imperials). I loved flying the X-wing in Rogue Squadron 1-3 and I loved reading about Wedge's exploits in the X-wing books. Every time I play in a tournament I have at least one X-wing in my squad simply because I imagine it is me in that cockpit. Even as an adult, I get excited when I see the X-wing and when I found out about this game, I HAD to play it. There are two X-wings that are in my possession that are especially sentimental to me (and see a lot more use than any other that I own). They were sent to me in Afghanistan by Hothie and became the source of enjoyment for not only me, but a large portion of my Company who played the game too. These two particular X-wings are marked very subtlety indicating their "veteran" status above all the others and in tournaments they are the only X-wings I depend on to carry my pilots to victory.
Even now, the game which bears the namesake of my favorite ship, has been the catalyst in helping me make new friends after I PCS'd (moved) in May to Georgia. The game also allowed me to prove once and for all that X-wings would totally beat TIE interceptors in a fair fight settling an age old dispute we had while flying around going "wapwapwap" vs. "cra-craw-cra-craw" in our back yard.
HWK-290. Dark Forces, along with Marathon 2, were the first video games I ever played. I am still an FPS guy to this day, recently playing a lot of Unreal Tournament 2k4. But that ship was the start of me walking down a nerdy road for the rest of my life.
The other ship I like is my Wedge. I have 3 x-wings and the purple one is always Wedge, and always has been. I think I have flown him in 200 games now, probably half of my total x-wing games. So just through sheer use I have grown attached.
I would never fly the Falcon but I had to own it just for the sheer nostalgia and beauty of it.
X-Wings are Star Wars to me and even though I have never flown a rebel list I had to have several of these.
Interceptors are just cool. I think they may be the coolest star fighters ever designed, IMHO.
I was bought an X-Wing for my sixth birthday. I was always jealous of my best friends Millennium Falcon. I have a model of Slave-One on my bookshelf.
... Yet the ship that I love the most and says 'Star Wars' to me like no other is the Lambda Class T-4a Shuttle. I currently have one, almost have two and am on the look out for number three and four as we speak! ![]()
My favorite ship of all time is by far the Tie Interceptor i love to fly that speedy fighter love the arc dodging love to outmaneuver my foes and so on. it has a pretty epic design mybe the best in the whole star wars universe ;P.
the pilot that fits my playstyle is Lt.Lorrir for sure with these 1 banking barrel rols hell yeah !!! i dont care about meta just fight my 4 interceptors list the Red Guard and u will start to beg for mercy.
iam going to paint 4 of em into my colour sheme
I was 10 in '77'and remember going to see the film at the cinema. Even better years later saw a double bill of Ep IV and V back to back. Two ships for me. The falcon and then thanks to the TIE fighter game it has to be the humble eyeball.
Great thread. As for myself the choice is simple. It was the ship that really opened up the EU to me. I was about twelve when I stumbled across a copy of the essential guide to vehicles and vessels. I remember flipping through with awe until on the last page, there it was, the underdog of the dogfight the Z-95. I can't really put my finger on what it was but something in that little snubfighter spoke to me. Maybe it's the old hotrodder in me but I've always fantasized about flying a tricked out headhunter.

As soon as I saw the Z-95, I was hoping to see Mara Jade's tricked out Z as an option. I can still keep my fingers crossed.
