They gave us 3 new ships and updated 4 others. That's seven ships worth of new stuff.

ok seriously though I was expecting to hear about imperial epic. no worries though, FFG has not let us down yet. new faction is a pretty big piece of news. I have a feeling new epic imps will be out next year. after the harvest. you know.

The general attitude in my area, including facebook groups, is that X-wing players think Armada looks cool but won't bother picking it up. I was curious if this was just my area or in general..

I figure a new epic ship is not as news-worthy as a whole new faction. I fully expect a news update announcing Imperial Epic sometime in the near future.

GenCon's not over yet... maybe they are saving something for a Saturday surprise. I'm hoping an epic imperial ships will be placed inconspicuously in the FFG display case overnight for us all to enjoy over the weekend.

The majority of our Monday night X Wing group is not buying Armada. There is a lot of resentment. And no epic ships, though I don't care, is bugging them.

My complaint is simple, FFG you have officially split the X Wing community. Not smart.

Most of my group feel the same way, it looks alright but also looks overly complicated and way over priced.

Hahaha. I'm trying to get myself excited about it, but having a hard time doing so. Hopefully they have good upgrades for my Rebs and Imps to pilfer through.

In terms of buying faction 3.....hmm....I don't know, man. I want to say 1 of each, just so I have an opinion of what their like, but just thinking about buying any of it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It's not like Armada is preventing FFG from putting out new content for X-Wing. QUITE THE OPPOSITE, in fact - considering that we're getting, by the end of the year, Wave 5, Rebel Aces, and a whole new faction, while Armada won't even ship until 2015.

You may not like the direction FFG has chosen to go in with the new waves, but it's not like FFG's decisions were dictated by Armada. There's zero evidence to support that conclusion.

Put it this way - if FFG had JUST announced the new X-Wing content, would everyone still be upset?

I have about 0 complaints. this thread should be deleted. FFG gave us the delight we know as x-wing. we have dash rendar folks. luke skywalker. col jenden. please stop complaining and be happy with what we have:

an awesome

customizable

collectable

pre painted

easy to learn

hard to master

relatively cheap

fast paced

easy to set up

table top

star wars

game! that comes with upgrade cards! and has a ton of new content coming out quarterly.

again, no complaints from me. this hands down replaces all other table top games i've ever payed (with the exeption of biosyndrome.. my zombie game).

No ISDs for Armada - yet. And I'm not too excited about the ships in wave 1, so I#m not too keen on buying.

As for the new faction, I'm not a fan of the Star Viper, ugliest ship ever imho. I'm not sure if I like the idea of a third faction. Seems to me it's better than having the bounty hunters fly with the empire, I never really liked that, but it sure isn't a must-buy for me. I'm happy for all you guys who wanted it, but still a bit disappointed that the empire doesn't get some love...

I think the issue is that FFG is kind of cannibalizing their own customers/player base (X-Wing), especially since people have a finite amount of money they can spend on hobbies. Not that Armada isn't appealing, but I'm not quite sure if it would attract that many additional player's that wouldn't have chosen X-Wing anyways.

If anything, the third faction is why FFG didn't do Imperial Epics, not Armada. Use your common sense, people...

I'm not really surprised by this.

Even the most reasonable contender, the Vigil, is a problem because of its shape. The extra length can be handled by scaling, but the shape means it's going to use a ton more material and packaging than the CR90 did. My conservative guess would be at least $150-$200 for one.
