Typo in Tau Pulse weapon stats in the Living Errata 1.1

By Goldritter, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hi,

I looked into the Living Errata 1.1 and saw all these weapon damage changes.

I think I can understand the reasons for these changes, but then I looked at the Tau Pulse weapons which has been changed from 2d10+2 E Pen 4 to 1d10 + 12 Pen 4.

This change increased the average damage of the Pulse weapon and makes it better as the Astartes Bolter (who has 1d10 + 9 Pen 4) and equals it to the Astartes Havy Bolter (1d10 + 12 Pen 4).

Now I woner if this is realy an intented change or if there is a typo and the +12 should be another number.

(Sorry forgott the ? behind the title :( . It should hve been "Typo in Tau Pulse weapons stats in the Living Errata 1.1 ?" )

What helps with bolters though to balance is that they have specialist ammunition which can readdress the odds over the pulse weaponry by adding to its pen or giving it a blast radius.

The PCs team are very powerful. With the previous stats, the GM needed unleashed big hordes of firewarriors to inflict significant damages to PCs. That was not logic. Tau are not Tyranid, they don't move in horde of hundred of warriors, but in squad of dozens warriors max. With new stats the Tau can inflict damage to a PC alone and Now they need to elaborate a little strategy against firewarrior squad and not just charge right in the foes and kill them all with their chainsword.

I totally approve the errata new stats, for players and foes.

Don't forget that a pulse weapon have better technology compare to a bolter.

The increased damage makes sense from a pure analagic (that's a word now) way. The pulse rifle was supposed to be very powerful in TT play and to represent that they made it +1 to the bolter. When the errata weapons came out they continued that line of thought.

Thanks for the answers.
