I don't expect that we will have time to finish a full game at our upcoming game session, so I am looking for a way to shorten the game. I am thing of reducing the mysteries from 3 to 2 and similarly reducing the doom track by 1/3 at the start. Thoughts on this approach?
Abbreviated Gameplay
I play a game of eldritch horror in less than 2 hours, this game is already short (if you compare it with arkham horror). No thoughts here because i think the time spent in a match of this game is already fair.
Problem is that the difficulty of the game has no linear growth, so that removing one mystery and shortening consequently the doom track couldn't work: the more you go on with the game, the easier is to have a greater number of gates open and monsters around, hence in the first part doom advances rather slowly, and in the second part it could advance incredibly quickly. I'd say the suggested modifications could work as long as you consider the number of investigators playing increased by 1 when resolving the Mythos phase, mysteries and rumors.

Thank you. This is an excellent suggestion and is exactly the type of input that I was seeking.
Glad I helped
Let me know if this actually works
Has anyone attempted this yet? I am really curious about how it went as I might sometimes need to play it with a bit shorter time than I would prefer.
