Question On Winning/Losing

By kinukai, in General Discussion

Hi,

I've just finished my 2nd playthrough of Eldritch Horror and I found it absolutely enthralling.

I do have a question I want to resolve though:

During the last (3rd) mystery in our game, I was lead investigator and was armed with enough clues to close off the last gate/portal and technically "win" the game during my turn.

However, there were still 3 players ahead of me for the encounter phase, and a mythos phase to boot.

Does the game end when all mysteries are solved right then and there (after my turn) or do all players need to finish their turns AND the Mythos phase?

Apologies in advance if this seems to be a noobish question.

EACH mystery is only solved (at least all mystery cards so far says that) in the END of your next mythos phase (except the final mystery in the case of the ancient one awakens, the final mystery is solved as soon as you meet the requirements of it). So the players need to finish their turns AND the mythos phase of this turn you met the requirements to solve the last mystery, note the ancient one CAN awaken in this round and then you'll need to solve the final mystery (which already happened to me 3 times -_- ).

Hope this helps. ^^

I see. Thanks for clearing that up Nainphy. ^^

I guess we lost then. Haha. The doom track hit zero by the end of the Mythos phase during our play through.. and well, let's just say there was no "final mystery" to resolve at that point.

Appreciate the quick reply!

P.S.: You just draw another mystery (in the case when you meet the requirements for the first and second mysteries) when the next mythos phase ends (you need to resolve ALL the steps of the mythos phase, even the event). Note however that you don't need to resolve the rumors to win, if the last mythos card (after you've met all the requirements to solve the 3rd mystery) is a rumor, you DON'T need to do it too, nor the rumors that were already in play.
