Hi all,
This has been discussed before on the forums, and I have decided to allow my players to enter careers they have previously completed. Instead of the career ability I decided to let them increase their fortune pool by 1 when they did this. One of my players have decided to re-start a career she previously finished so I decided to create a card in Strange Eons to represent the +1 fortune pool.
Instead I ended up making several cards and thought I'd share them with you all.
The first card I call Career Focus, it increases fortune pool size:
Next comes Career Expertise, and you gain it when entering a career for the third time. It allows you to gain one expertise die when spending a fortune on one of the career abilities (from the career you've re-entered):
Lastly came Career Mastery if a player re-enters a career for the fourth (!) time. I used the Seer ability as an inspiration for this card. Career Mastery allow the player to spend a fortune point on a career skill to add a comet to the check, even after rolling.
My thoughts was that these career cards should build on the extra fortune point and add more options for fortune point spends, while at the same time focusing on the career skills. It also made them "generic" as the career skills depend on what career the player re-visits. A Thief with Career Mastery would be very different from a Soldier with it for example.
Lastly I did not want them to be so powerful that other careers would seem pointless, but they should still be useful. As the Expertise and Mastery cards can only be used once per session I feel that they are not overpowered at least.
What to you all think?
