Repaints and gaming tables.

By fencer2, in X-Wing

Received last week: maneuver and range templates from Applied Perspective.

I got the extra Range 1 and Range 2 rulers. Colors are mirrored blue and mirrored orange... it looks very sharp on the gaming mat.

Great product and family owned company that I recommend.

I was trying to wait for custom templates, hoping to earn some acrylic ones in tournament play, but those are sexy as hell

I wish I could fit a nice big table into my house. My kitchen table isn't big enough but I don't have enough room for two tables, and I can't really justify getting rid of one.

Awsome table guys. Now I gotta make one.

check out my repaint.

Great work Wolf, what material did you use to make the winglets?

Just took some pictures of my 2 Y-wing. The picture quality is not the best but you know... :)

I did the "Gold" one a while back and the "Red" one much more recently.

Great repaints!

I Really like the look of the dark red Y-Wing, it looks really nice!

Time to show my B-wings. I have to say that the paints from Rodent inspired me for these.

One of them also have the rotative cockpit and a prototype of brass rod with magnets. I have to arrange it as the ship happens to be too much in front front the base.

It took me a while but I finally decided to get my own repaints on the forum.

I have to admit that until I saw Rodent's work, I had never done any kind of miniature painting.

A few month ago I finally jumped and got my first custom X-wing (usually used as Biggs).

The Weathering on this X-Wing in particular is amazing, mind if I asked what you used?

I used "Rusty Red" paint from MSP. I do most of my weathering with "black shade"wash, "umber shade" wash, and "rusty red" paint.

Got some days off work because of the snow, here's the result :)

Ah, the snow. Gave me time to paint up my tokens and templates.

I've had an idea for a gaming table. Something along the lines of yours: (Nice work, by the way)

But instead of the mat, the starfield could be a screen. Not a touch screen, but maybe like a mini TV screen that displays the image of your playing field.

Star Destroyer? Boom. Displayed on the screen as the mat.

Death Star Run? Boom. Displayed on the screen as the mat.

I don't know how to go about doing it though... I'm better at thinking things up than I am actually doing them and all I can do is splice the electrical wiring in a broken 3DS charger cord.

The screen is a great idea but you'll have to get some protection over it and probably little rubber dots under the base of the ships in order to prevent damaging the screen or the protection.

Doing some research on Google I found some nice ideas too :)

Nice idea but a TV screen with size 3 x 3 feet??? Doesn't exist. And to have one extra wide to cover 3' high and ignore the spare space wasted. Hell that would have been the most expensive table ever. In Sweden LED TVs are cheap but to meassure up to 3 feet high you need a 65" TV :)

Cheapest 65" TV is about 17.000 SEK = 2634 USD!!! But mounted flatscreen up and covered with a glass window that would work ;) I would love to see some nutcase spend that kind of mone to create an interactive gaming table... LOL

The cheapest solution would be to build a projection table. Basically a projector under the table displaying images onto the underside of the surface .

Here is a example:

That would be for sure the cheapest. However, it requires quite a bit of hardware which can look messy; unless you have a skirt around the table to hide it.

If we are all patient and wait a decade or two, we might be able to play hologram x-wing. It will be fun as long as we let the wookie win ;) .

One thing I would watch out for - as you start making the table bigger and bigger, it becomes harder to maneuver yourself around it, which is especially important for measuring arcs, or visualizing if you'll clear the asteroid.

It's taking a while but the gaming table is getting close to be done. Got the stain and the felt on the top, and stain on the skirt.

Next step will be to fit the top on the skirt :)

Also did some painting on my Aces...

One of the Imperial Guard used to be a regular Tie-I, the color came out real good.

I had it done for a while but didn't get any pictures of the finished table.

Dinner side works great for other games requiring a bigger play area than x-wing.

The x-wing side works awesome, especially for dice rolls, templates storage, and beers :)

Holy crap, okay, as a great lover of the craft of wargaming, I have to say that is FANTASTIC. A very nice table, and a beautiful x wing table to boot! Great job, keep up the inspiring work:)

That sir .. is tremendous!

That big table is gorgeous!
Kudos my man, I'm most envious (of both your table and your skills)!
