i'm just starting out as an apothecary and i took the Create Toxins special ability. there's been some question in the group about what weapons the toxins can be applied to; for example can it be applied to bolt rounds?
thanks for the help!

Since it isn't specified otherwise (errata only adding something about how toxins from this bypass creatures natural toxin resistance such as nids), effectively yes you could apply it to any weapon going on how it is written. This however seems somewhat illogical that you can make weapons such as plasma weapons into a poison effect as arguably the super heated plasma would vaporise the toxic component surely?
For sake of sanity then and common sense, I would argue only weapons that have a physical projectile or melee weapons are suitable to have a poison applied. So yes bolt rounds would apply as well as any other bullet or shell. Probably onto grenades...

Coating a non-power bladed weapon (for D3 or D5 hits per coating. A power field would burn up the toxin, blunt weapons wouldn't really deliver it into the target)
Used with a specific toxin injecting sword (they exist, I'm sure you can requisition one with GM's permision, or have your Techmarine make you one at a min cost of 500xp and 500xp/20 req. using his creation skills)
Gas grenades can be used (aerosol that stuff)
Using a medical injector (grapple that target then inject him).

Agreed on that one, power weapons probably would, although blunt could rarely work if it has some sort of spiked element to actually pierce the skin of the target (such as a morning star) as usually blunt objects break bones and do mostly internal damage. The chances of actually getting one use is slim. For all intent and purpose to keep it simple you may want to go with Herichimo and give a blanket no on blunt objects.
Basically between us we have concluded pointy objects only without power fields or physical projectiles like arrows or bullets.
