LFG: Play by post

By dava100, in Dark Heresy

I see Medicae seems to have gotten quite a buff since DH1.

It gets even better when you buy the Superior Chirurgeon talent. That gives you +20 to Medicae checks AND limits the penalties for wounds to a maximum of -10. My Chirurgeon player routinely first-aids fellow Acolytes at 7 crit damage back to ~5 wounds. You can't get it until you have something like Medicae +20, but it's worth every XP point.

Yeah, I will definitely be going that route when I can get there.

So, who is next in the Doctor's seat? Someone else needs patching up, I assume.

Me please! I am on zero wounds!

Who is that, Asterius?

Same check. Rolling now.

Rolled a 55. Lets play it out IC.

It's Dral

Dral, you just got healed 6 HP, brother.

Just for the transparence:

Heavily wounded gives a -10 modifier. With your Int 45 and +30 medkit/med mech this means 2 DoS with a 55.

4+2 = 6 healed wounds.

Has everyone got healing who needs it?

Yep. Also, Cade doesn't have any Common Lore tests he can take, so he can't try to identify the symbol.

Am hoping all is well with svstrauser and he will be back soon but can we for now say that he has sustained an injury or something else that takes him away from the group for a while? Or would we prefer a silent partner tagging along until he is back?

Either way it would be useful if he could deputize our eager medic seeing her as having useful skills which would smooth her transition into the group?

Yeah, I wasn't sure how to get to that point IC without a ton of dialogue. Which is fine, but I was thinking perhaps the group wanted to streamline it.

LOL. Seito is basically like I AM IN. And no one asked her to be in. I will try to use her previous familiarity with the Captain (again shooting from the hip to make it work) to smooth her transition.

I also think it might sense to take Asterius out for the moment, until we know when svs will be back.

I don't understand what just happened.

Seito was not acting as a guide for anything. Are we not all allowed an awareness check as we are all following the same "trail?"

Had I known my awareness check (note, not a tracking check) could have negative repercussions other than simply not seeing any of the trail - not actively leading us astray - I would not have rolled. Again, I would understand that making sense had it been a tracking check.

The ones who took the lead just misinterpreted something as trail that wasnt.

There's a new entry in the Shades of Heresy Characters thread. Gaunt, did Librarian Astelan contact you through PM about joining the game?

I did. I'm trying to create the character but I'm not sure how he wants to integrate it into the ongoing story. That's why it's a spoiler.

He did - and as SVS return is not known currently, I think for the moment it is a valid option.

Sexy. Welcome.

Seito, I like the idea of gesturing silently at us but I think you should let us form our own idea about what you are try to convey rather than telling us... Hence my misinterpretation of what you were trying to say. After all I do not think any of us have any sign languages.

I like the idea of Charades: Inquisitorial Edition. I'll do my best to describe Dammek's sign language so that I don't give away any information that your characters couldn't see :D

Good idea :D

If it is in italics that is so narratively you can know what I am saying.

If your character doesn't understand IC then play it out that way. That was the point I was trying to get at; another reason it was written is because Seito has been in plenty of combat scenarios before and has learned a thing or two. She assumes that anyone with Guard history would get her meaning.

It is the same as when I write in italics for her inner dialogue. That isn't so your characters can know what she is thinking. It is so the players have a better feel for who she is as a PC in an OOC context.

Cool, understood.

ANyway...indeed I like it very much if put without explanation. If a char has a matching liingustics skill, you may pm that player with the true meaning ;)
