Hey Covered in Weasels,

Can you explain the overload thing? Is it a trait or a special ability of your pistol, and if so, how does it work?

Furthermore, if I count correctly you used too much actions, but perhaps you combine certain stuff such as dropping the sword and aiming.

Last but not least: Are you suggesting that Erwin picks up the sword and goes into melee? If so, you just went bonka-bonka, but nevertheless, I'll try. Will we be ganging up on it with Cade closing in?

Lasguns, laspistols and long-lases have a special Variable Charge setting rule. Basically, there are three ways to fire a las weapon:

-- Normal charge, which uses the normal weapon profile.

-- Overcharge, which adds +1 damage but consumes two shots worth of ammo. This effectively replaces the special overcharge packs you could buy in DH1.

-- Overload, which adds +2 damage and +2 penetration but consumes four shots worth of ammo. Additionally, the lasgun loses Reliable and gains Unreliable when firing on Overload (so it jams on a 91-100 instead of just on a 100).

It's usually best to use either normal charge or overcharge attacks. Dammek is using overload in this situation because he REALLY wants to kill the (presumably very durable) machine man in as little time as possible.

Dropping a weapon is a free action, so Dammek didn't use too many actions that turn. On the turn where I moved 8m and fired, I was using my class special ability; it lets me move my Full Move distance and make a single shot with a pistol during the move.

Dammek isn't planning to use the sword any time soon, so he tossed it to Erwin so the latter can have a melee weapon. Whether or not you want to close to melee range is your decision, but the option is there.

It's worth noting that Primitive weapons don't work the same way as in DH1; several low-tech weapons have Primitive (X), meaning that you treat any damage roll higher than X as if you rolled an X. A sword actually doesn't have Primitive, so it does 1d10+SB damage with 0 Pen. Non-primitive armor points aren't doubled against primitive weapons anymore.

Sorry to repeat myself, but I'm just doublechecking, is the big machineman counted in close combat?

And if he is, I'm assuming the penalty for shooting into close combat is the same as in DH1? (-20?)

You have a melee weapon? Lucky you (although...). I'm stuck with my lasgun (without bayonet), so I'm not too eager to get into melee with the thing :(

Doesn't your imperial guard combat knife attach to your lasgun? Pretty sure it does in dh1 at least... Turning it into a spear no less.

Don't give Dammek too much credit. All Erwin's other companions have come to their untimely demise, so that he is stuck with this ragtag band now. But as far as Erwin sees it, Dammek is about the only one who extended a bit of a friendly gesture towards him. Seito caused him some extra pain and Cade doesn't seem to friendly either. Dral stays a bit of a mystery for Erwin, but then again... It's a psyker... There has gotta be something wrong with the chap. And if he's ok after all, it won't take much longer before some daemon possess his body.

Nothing wrong with me, I am sanctioned and everything!

Seito is secretly your real best friend, Erwin. Admit it.

You all want to be friends with the mercenary who tried to kill you, only hours ago? Fine :) . I guess Erwin's foul language has a certain appeal to it. Or what else is that you guys desperatly want to be on his good side ^_^

As soon as he attacks someone with his chainaxe, he counts in melee with that person.

If that persons leaves melee in his/her turn, it doesnt count as melee anymore. So - timing is important.

Hi guys,

I'm kind of thinking we're in a chase scene here. Have you guys interpreted otherwise (and are more for an examine-much caution-wise approach)? What's your take on the situation?

I agree we should definitely clear first and then investigate the place in more detail. Just concerned at the moment that this dead machineman is about to self destruct in a big explosion.

At least Seito is standing directly over him to shield you from the worst of the blast with her tiny body.

Yeah, Cade's considered that, and is checking. Dunno what kind of test I'd need for that though. Intelligence or Perception.

Tech use or demolitions I guess

Gaunt, I don't suppose a Tech Use test would be sufficient to figure this out? As Cade lacks a Common Lore to use here :/

Sorry guys, I have been in Hiroshima. Will try and get something in tomorrow.

Lore would be fitting here, as you cant really use what you totally dont understand...

Is everybody stuck with exams? Or is there another holdup I'm missing? Me miss playing :(

Last one today in about 3 hours.

Is everybody stuck with exams? Or is there another holdup I'm missing? Me miss playing :(

I miss my undergrad and MA experience sometimes.

Then I see things like this and I am like, "Oh yeah, Fugg that noise in the A."

Technical issues that needed to be solved. Back on track now :)

Welcome back. So, did those lore/medicae checks produce no results of any kind? If so, Seito needs to go get a door open for her heavily armed friends.

Hey Gaunt,

"I fade out". Does this mean that I pass out of I just fail horrendously?

Seito never went to the door.

I am not sure what update you are reading. I passed a lore test for information on the machine men - something akin to how to best deal with them.

Then I moved into the room to check on the dead or dying patient and failed a skill check there.

I never got any results for either of those actions.

"I fade out". Does this mean that I pass out of I just fail horrendously?

You just failed horrendously ;)

Lucky me ^_^

While she failed, I assume that Seito could at least get a base idea of what they were doing to the dead man?

Judging from how he looks, what has his body suffered through? What was the machine man trying to accomplish? Was it simple torture or was there a purpose?
