Interrogator elite package

By Alox, in Dark Heresy Second Edition Beta

In the rule book there is an Inquisitor elite package but no Interrogator elite package.

Assuming that a group of acolytes at some points grows strong enough, and their inquisitor decides that one of the acolytes should be groomed for a future inquisitor, that acolyte should first obtain the rank of Interrogator. I think the period where the players are working towards obtaining the inquisitor rank is quite an interesting one, and do not see any reason to skip directly to inquisitor rank. Interrogator rank seems like a good milestone on this journey.

An idea to handle this as an optional rule, could be to allow the acolyte to buy the Inquisitor elite package, but not be allowed to buy inquisitor talents before being promoted to inquisitor. How does that sound?

Perhaps the influence requirement could be a little lower for the interrogator advancement, but still require 75 influence before the actual promotion to inquisitor can happen.

My main concern is that the leadership aptitude should get awarded at interrogator rank so the player won't hold out on any leadership purchases until inquisitor rank. Leadership stuff is already needed as an interrogator.1000xp might be a lot when not being allowed to buy the talents, but consider it as an investment.

I like the general idea of having an interrogator elite package that is a prerequisite for the inquisitor package.

I'd just handle this as promoting a character to interrogator rank in character a few missions before they're allowed to take the Inquisitor package. I'm not really sure what an Interrogator package could bring to the table that Inquisitor doesn't already.

That's why it's a shame we started with Inquisitor.

It could maybe have some talents about authority, like command bonuses to Imperial forces, and a talent to requisition massive things

It could be a package with just a small amount of additional talents.

Its more the status than the additional talents that make it important.

It means, you are being watched from now, even more than before.

Mhm. I'd like some more Elite Advances before it ships. Just a few more small ones.

I also think they bring good flavour.

I also would hope for 1-2 additional ones in the final version...and a lot more in future supplements to be a substitute for both background packages & alterante career ranks.

I could see a lot of the old alternate careers returning as elite advances. Cyber mastiff handler, chem gland warrior, bounty hunter, faith talents, sorcerers, hereteks. So many possibilities

As those who cannot easily be made by just taking another background-role combination.

Those that are really special.

For others, I'd just give some more options for homeworlds, backgrounds and roles.

I just want the Beta finished so the Splatbooks can come, ha ha

I would like to see Battle Sister as an elite advance.

Boyz, I agree with you both.

Time to get the current stuff done, so the supplements can come :) :) :)

We don't need battle sisters, so much as faith talents for everyone and a schola origin

That would probably fit better with the current set up.

Maybe like an "Elite Specialist" advance at like high exp where you can snag a new aptitude and some rarer armour and gear

I still wanna see the Faith aptitude...

Like a Seraphim elite advance that grants an Operate (Jump Pack) skill. It would probably be a high level advance though.

I think a general battlesister would be e.g. a ministorum warrior.

But special ranks could get an elite package.

We really do need a faith power elite package. Possible allow some home brewing for secret cults and strange imperial creeds. That would be cool because I found the Blood and Matyers faith powers to be highly customizeable. I made up a few cults with their own faith powers which serves their religious view points quite well.

Like "Man/woman of pure faith"

> gets access to a faith talent tree

Remember that in the Original game series there were only two character classes that actually got the "Pure faith" ability. The Battle sister and the Missionary from rogue trader. There was an additional "Elite advance" package in the Inquisitors handbook but I can't remember the name. I think "Pure faith" should be a VERY rare ability or it dilutes it's extremely special nature!

It was everywhere in Blood of Martyrs actually, Like, pretty much every class could get it with elite advances.

Only Clerics, Sororitas, Assassins and Arbitrators for some reason, can get it from what I see

Huh, I could swear Drill Abbots got it. Weird.

Guardsmen could get it via the background package in IHB, some thing like "witness the Devine".
