Hugeldal

By thePREdiger, in WFRP Gamemasters

I am calling out for some creative help for "Horrors of Hugeldal".

My group made their way to Hugeldal after they failed to stop Schulmans ritual (Stromdorf is gone).

I ruled that Ubersreik is now on the edge of the new created lake. Hugeldal is up on the mountain and is not compromised by the flood. Also the arzyr storm is "only" covering the

area provided by the maps of TGS.

They rescued the Shallyans from the bandit raid but insist on escorting them to Ubersreik.

During their first night the wood-elf contracted the green-pox disease from the blankets

provided by the strigany people who drive the cart with the expelled shallyans.

My Question:

This strain of the green-pox is a special nurgle one which cannot be healed by the shallyan priests (only by the Doctor in Hugeldal) - should I be so cruel and let little elfie die?

If I am going down that road - what kind of penalities would u suggest to resilience rolls and

which symptoms would you suggest?

For contracting they did the normal avg. resilience check. I intend to have them reroll it

every night they sleep in the contaminated blankets.

I thought I would have the shallyan priest tell them that they cannot help them after the disease worsens and "force" them to seek help from the doctor to get things back on track.

what do you think?

The wood elf should roll 1000 additional purple dice on his resilience checks and die if he rolls a chaos star. That will teach him! The shallyan priest who is fond of trains hints that they might want to go back to Hugeldal or they might catch the plot disease too.

OR

- Why were they ambushed? Investigate!

- Why doesn't he seem to get any better at all? Investigate! (Btw why does the elf have a diseases that can only be healed in Hugeldal if he never was there?)

- Do NOT have the shallyan priests say "Oops, the godess can't help you. Go seek out a real doctor in Hugeldal because we are all just frauds" Every player will only hear this: FOLLOW MY PLOT NOW NOW NOW NOW!

- Maybe your players don't want to play that adventure and you should give them a hook to something different and drop Hugeldal or try if you can recycle it later.

I'd probably just run it as written..and then add the WFRP3 fan scenario "Wolfship" to the whole scene :)

You don't have to get them truly infected either. Explaining that their skin seems to be reacting, or they have small pustules (with no game effect) works just fine too. Sometimes that is MORE scary to the PCs because they can't just "rules lawyer" it out. There should be a sense of dread of , "what if this gets worse?"

..that, and add animals to the mix. Do any of them have horses? Nothing will tick them off like the loss of a pet.

2 of them went to Hugeldal to get supplies and met the innkeeper and the twin of the bandit they killed.

They even figured out that the bandits were hired to kill the shallyans - this is why they wanted to stay with

them.

Fortunately for me, they bought supplies from the innkeeper who gave them infected blankets (as mentioned in the game).

I think I will make it not cureable (takes up a talent slot) and can worsen due to failed resilience checks.

On day3 the Nurgle followers will arrive in Hugeldal - I think they will meet on the road if they keep staying with the Shallyans.

Will see how this will turn out.

@abi: I already preparing Edge of Night if they wont return to Hugeldal. Also Lichemaster (1st Edition) if they wanna go south. I dont like the railroad thingy too much but in this case the not cureable disease is kinda a one-way road to go down :(

@Emirikol: Where can I find this scenario?

Thanks for the adventure!
