Force Powers and Specializations

By Ferretz, in Game Mechanics

So, got the Age of Rebellion Beta, and finally got around to reading it. I've also read the update pdfs, but some questions remain:

Can a Force Sensitive Exile from Edge of the Empire learn Force Powers from Age of Rebellion (Enhance and Forsee) and can a Force Emergent from Age of Rebellion learn the ones from Edge of the Empire (Influence and Sense)?

Also, can one character buy into both of the Force-using Specializations?

Yes, yes, and yes :)

Just to be clear, the specs and powers are meant to work together and be mixed and matched, if you so choose and the GM allows. A GM may not want to include information from AoR in their EotE game or vice versa for whatever reasons, though, so it always is a good idea to check first.

But with both these Specializations, does the character now get 2 in Force Rating?

You only get the initial Force Rating when you take either spec. If you already have a Force Rating of one when you take an additional Force spec, you do not gain any addition to it. This is explained under taking Force specs in that he "gains a Force Rating of 1 if he did not already have it" (pg 194 AoR beta or pg 276 EotE Corebook). Also, if you look at the specs they state that you Gain Force Rating 1, not a +1 or add to it.

The only way to increase your Force Rating is by taking said talent in the fifth row of each spec. Given enough XP and taking both specs, you can get a Force Rating of 3 max right now.

Ah, that explains a lot. Thanks! :)
