In combination with OCTGN, yes, it's quite feasible.

i have done it a few times and it worked great. octgn + skype = win

I've played other games over Skype with actual cards. Worked great.

Using Xbox Kinect works well also. Once you figure out a way to prop the camera up, facing at a downward angle toward your play area, it works really well. You get your entire TV to see your opponent's play area, and there is audio.
