Question about the Card Game.

By Kjun, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I was recently at a card shop that was selling a Game of Thrones card game. From the back the art work looked different, and the Fantasy Flight Game logo was red instead of blue, and they had some 11 card booster packs for the game. Is this the same game or something totally different?

Ducks have webbed feet.

Kjun, I suspect what you saw were expansion packs (print on demand) for the Game of Thrones board game (also by FFG). There are some card-based expansions for it. Might that be it?

Thank you, but as I said earlier I'am confused with all the products Game of thrones has to offer. I found the products on amazon, this is what I was referring to.

Was curious if this was an earlier set that could be played with the LCG, not much information was posted on it.

Those are all CCG cards from before they made the switch to LCG. Not tourney legal.

Thank you dcdennis for your helpful information.

They're not even meant to be played with the LCG. The card balance and effects are different than the LCG. Basically don't buy CCG packs unless you're looking for some novelty cards or want to do an AGoT CCG draft.

I am sure you have more questions, perhaps, about this card game.

It was originally released as a CCG (like Spellfire or Magic or Pokemon). It was then transitioned to a format called an LCG: Fixed collation packs whose expansion packs have sufficient copies of each card you need for deck building maximums.

SOME of the old CCG cards were reprinted in the LCG and are tournament legal... a very small 'some' and I wish there were a master list somewhere so I could go rifle through my old CCG cards and combine them with my LCG cards. :)

There actually is a master list on these boards somewhere. I just forget what to search for. It's probably CCG List or something.

I like LCG legal CCG cards.
