That's awesome. Thank you for the work, and them for the support
Another Character Generator
I still see it the 509 error
Same here, and it seems folks have been trying for quite some time (self included).
Getting the 509 error here as well.
I'm also getting these five hundred and nine errors.
I have a feeling the DropBox links will be disabled for a few days. I'm currently trying to deploy to Google Drive. When it's finished, I'll give the links so you can test it. I have a feeling that the web deployment will act like a different install, unfortunately, so you'll have it installed twice. If that's the case, you can remove the original DropBox install and just use the Google Drive install (assuming that it works).
Edit: Well, the web install appears to be smart enough to know that you already have the application installed from a different location. Unfortunately, it's not smart enough to just install over it So, it looks like you'll need to remove your current web install (Control Panel/Programs and Features, find "Star Wars EotE Character Generator and GM Tools", right-click, uninstall) before re-installing the one on Google Drive.
The ZIP file is almost uploaded, I'll post the new links in a few...
Edited by OggDudeOK, Google Drive is ready. Please give these a shot and let me know if you have any problems. Again, if you have the web version installed from DropBox (the original links), it'll need to be uninstalled before the Google Drive install will work.
Google Drive links:
Thanks! Installing it now!
Looking at the list of updates, kinda wish I'd had this yesterday. Was very time consuming to have to hit Save when making several updates to the Force powers in my Ways of the Force supplement to make sure the updates I made to Force Abilities were there when updating the powers themselves.
Thanks again for this.
I've set the data location via the launcher and it works fine for me...however I actually do store my character generator on dropbox for everyone of my players to be able to use and sadly...well...it doesn't point to the right directory when they try and open it. Some aren't very technical minded and explaining them how to point the launcher to the right directory is a nightmare, any ideas how I can fix this?
Seems to be working great now.

So they just don't know where to find their DropBox sync folder? It should be under "C:\Users\<login id>\DropBox", plus whatever folder you have shared. They can change it by checking the "More Options" box on the launcher and clicking the "Data Path" button.

I'm surprised that nobody complained about it It was one of those things on my "to-do" list, but there was always bigger fish to fry elsewhere. It finally bugged me enough that I just took care of it.
Is anyone else still having trouble getting the new file?
I do not know if this is a bug but Ace: Gunner Talent Tree does not equal the beta book pg. 44.

What problems are you having? I just checked and they're both coming up when I click the (new Google Drive) links.

They made some changes to some trees during beta. Check the last update document .
Google Drive worked Ogg! I didn't even see those links. That's what I get for checking forums before my coffee. Thanks again man!

No problem I added the new links to my signature. I had to drop the FAQ link because of FFG's 4-link limit, but as the FAQ is meaningless without the app, and it comes with the app, AND it's easy to get to from the launcher...
DropBox will come back to the party in a couple of days, probably, after their hissy fit about the excessive bandwidth is over with. I'll keep both places up to date for the time being. If Google Drive turns out to be more reliable and more relaxed about bandwidth, I may just switch over to it permanently, not sure yet.
I installed the new generator, and my character folder is still there with my character, but the generator isn't seeing them. Did something change?
Still having problems, some of my players are not very computer literate and so despite laying it out in easy steps where to direct the data path to...they are still having problems.
With that in mind I'd like to suggest for the next release a third option in the data path screen:
1) Use the Standard Data Path - C:\Users\<LOGIN NAME>\AppData\Roaming\SWCharGen
2) Use the Character Generator Folder (Dropbox friendly) - C:\Users\<LOGIN NAME>\Dropbox\Character Generator Folder
3) Select Your Own Data Location.
@Grimmshade This is the same problem I had, you have to change the 'Data Path' in the launcher to the Character Generators folder.
Edited by EbakThanks man!

While you can just change the folder to your old non-web install, you can also transfer the files to the new location.
Whoops, keep forgetting that option! Yes, you can also use data transfer!
When I tried to transfer my files, I got an error that it didn't have anything in the "new" folder so it failed.
It's very possible I just had no idea what I was doing.
It does seem to have worked to point the Data Path at the generator folder.
