I don't think that is exactly the case. The whole problem with SW RPG is that no one in LucasFilm really figured out where to put it.

IIRC Hasbro didn't want to pick the WEG SW RPG line when it closed the deal for producing the Prequels trilogy toy and tabletop games line, but at the time Lucasfilm didn't see the SW RPG as published material, they saw it as a kind of board/Table-top game, and the agreement was kind of an all or nothing thing, either Hasbro picked all SW toys and table-top games or it would get nothing. Luckly Hasbro had just bought WotC, and that's how SW RPG would end up in the WotC RPG line.

It seems that we are experiencing something similar, after-all is SW RPG just a kind of board-game or should it be considered a book? Lucasbooks releases digital content for and digital versions of their books all the time. But given that there are a multiple game related apps released by FFG, I doubt it would be an issue to release a Character Generator, if that's what they wanted.

I think that the most probable reason we don't see anything other than a dice roller, is because with a character generator a lot of people would not have reason to buy the plethora of career books being released by FFG. Most people do not read those books beyond the talents and gear/vehicles sections, if they can get that information without paying for the book, they would never pay for the book.

I would think the reason the dice app is fine is because it isn't a game. It's just dice, an RNG. No Star Wars involved. No need to speculate about licensing and loopholes for that.

I think, when it comes to a character generator, there are three paths that I see they could take.

First, if licensing allows it, they could just follow the D&D Beyond model. Release either a stand alone, or online based interface and then sell DLs for specific content. Perhaps even work out some sort of subscription service if possible.

Second, release a barebones, character generator structure, preferably Oggdude's, which would be no more useful than the downloadable character sheets they currently offer, at least to those who don't have the books themselves.

The third, do nothing.

Sadly, I tend to think, they are leaning towards option 3.

At the very least, I hope they will someday begin releasing PDFs, though I won't hold my breath.

I figured it out. Been using this program for years and never had this happen. I must have been half asleep when I did my last update. I did not finish Juyo Berserker specialization.

Had something weird happen to mine the other day.

Several ships i custom made for the game suddenly won't show up anymore. Found out when i went to update the rigger and all of a sudden his Signature Vehicle was no longer there. All the ships saved correctly and were added to characters, printed out etc. No errors or problems...then poof, they're gone.

I checked the xml, and they are still in the file, just not showing up anymore. Even tried uninstalling and re-installing just to be safe...nothing.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Have you checked to make sure the User Data option was marked in your sources?

Yeah, other things I have entered are still there, but no ships. User Data isn't even an option on the pull down for sources in Vehicles anymore (but is in others).

Also constantly clear my cache (need to with as many NPC's and Adversaries I have entered).

Thanks though. Too many times it's the obvious/easy answer.

Only thing I can think of is in the XML file, check at the very bottom to make sure that the files have </Vehicle> at the end of them. But that's only if you recently modded a vehicle file and it caused a similar issue to what's going on with the item attachment file, where if you try to add or make changes, the file cuts off several lines, including the </ItemAttachments> tag that lets the program know it's a complete file.

Yup, it's there. I actually stay away from the xml files. Don't know what I'm doing so I only look to see if they are there or, like now, check if something is amiss.

If I made them and they didn't show up, that's one thing, but they were there and attached (and printed) to characters/NPC's, now gone. Just odd.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum, but I've been using OggDude's generator for a couple of years now. However, I'm at a stalemate with it, as I can't seem to find any datasets that add the newer books, especially the Dawn of Rebellion book. Does anybody know where I can get the dataset for that book and maybe any newer books? Thank you.

Hi guys. I know, I've been away for... yikes, has it been over 5 months? RL gets in the way of Star Wars. I've been working quite a bit and just didn't have time until recently to upgrade the apps. I've now been hired full-time by a company that I was sub-contracted to, and we were in the middle of a huge project that pretty much I was developing alone. We just completed it on Friday, so I'm hoping to have more time for fun things.

Anyway, the big change for 2.3 will be vehicle crafting from Fully Operational. It was actually a major pain to add, and it took me a couple of weeks programming an hour here and an hour there. But it should all be working now.

I've also added everything else, including species, specs, equipment, vehicles, etc. I basically just have to update the translation files and I should be ready for a release. I also bought the two new FaD books I found last week at my friendly-neighborhood game store (Unlimited Power and Knights of Fate), but haven't even opened them up, to tell you the truth.

Since I've been out of this for awhile... what other books am I missing? I haven't seen Dawn of Rebellion yet and wasn't aware it was out. What other ones do I need to add?

Glad you guys have been keeping this thread alive I can't make any promises, but I will do my best to visit here at least on a semi-regular basis.

Poor poor Oggdude there have been several books released, 2 careers (Mystic:Unlimited Power, Warrior: Knights of Fate) and the Dawn of Rebellion, hopefully by the end of the month the last career book will be released too Spy: Cyphers and masks. I believe some have made custom trees that you might be able to steal to expedite the process, I am one of the freeloaders just waiting around unfortunately.

I have, actually. Forget which book, but when he returned from a previous prolonged absence, I sent him my data set from the book that had come out while he was gone. ?

I'm just sayin' that, since we don't have an ETA for his return, let alone what data he will have entered into that next release, it's a lot shorter wait to just enter the new data in.

Welcome back!

You were actually helped a lot by the Big Book Delay. Since the last release included Disciples of Harmony, since its release we've also had the Ghosts of Dathomir adventure.

The bulk of Dawn of Rebellion is NPCs, although to include the Death Star stats, you'll have to raise the limits on a few things like silhouette. (I've managed to get it to work by manually entering the higher values into the xml file, but if I open the Death Star in Data Editor, it starts displaying the coded maximums.) If you like, I'll be glad to toss you copies of mine.

When you open Knights of Fate, you'll find a couple of new talents that will need to be accommodated: they're not Force talents, but are Conflict talents. Currently, we can't select Conflict for non-Force talents.

Not sure if you saw the email I sent you, but I've talked to my web host, and we may be able to help with the bandwidth issues you were experiencing for a while. He just has some questions about traffic, etc.
