Another Character Generator

By OggDude, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

It is not their larger Sil that gives them the vehicle stat line, it is the fact that the PCs are running into them in a vehicle that gives them the stat. In the follow-up to the AOR: Beginner's Game adventure the PCs can fight giant moon lizards the largest of which, while it should probably have vehicle stats does not as the PCs fight them on foot.

That makes sense.

For now... if I am building a creature that will be encountered by the PCs in a ship, I can just use the Vehicles section in the data editor.

Oggie: Any chance we could see an "Other" type in the Vehicles section. Or a "Creature" type?

EDIT: Nevermind. I hadn't looked close enough. There's a "Space-dwelling Creature" type already listed! (I suppose one more for Planetary Creature wouldn't hurt.)

Hi there, I've been using the generator for some time now- It worked just fine until recently when it stopped launching all together. Unfortunately, I don't know any way of gathering any sort of crash information as the application simply seems to launch, then immediately shut off without any sort of warning or report.

I'm running Windows 10... I've tried a lot of stuff to repair the issue: Ran as Admin, in compatibility mode for Win7, reinstalled, installed 1.7, installed 1.8, etc.

Unfortunately, I'm at the end of my rope and don't know what to do, any help would be seriously appreciated!

First time post, wanted to say that this is an awesome application, so thanks.

Having seen some of the issues other people are reporting, this seems one of the more trivial bugs I could mention - it's just noticeable to me every time :/

When printing the sheet, there's a spurious carriage return after Gender and before the colon. This gives a creepy line differential between "Gender" and the actual gender printed.

I've had a look for an XML file that looks like it might be relevant, but can't see one. I'd guess (in my non-expert opinion) that you could shift the values of the description categories to the right a smidge and it might all line up.

Version 1.8.0.0, Windows 10 (running in Windows 7 compatibility mode). So far, everything else I've tried seems fine.

I doubt I can leave a picture on my first post, but if required, I'll try on my second.

Make sure you have the latest version of .NET installed. At least version 4.6.1 is required ( https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49981 ).

Just in case this was it, I decided to run a .NET repair tool- Unfortunately, it didn't help. The version installed on my computer is the most current version and it, evidently, is not corrupted. Thank you for the quick reply, though!

P.S I did run the installer, told me I had a more recent, if not the most recent, version of .NET installed.

I am sorry, but for the life of me, I cannot get the 1.8 beta to work on my computer. Can someone give me some instruction on this, please? I already updated the .net

It's a beta. Which, for better or for worse, means it's not guaranteed to work. If you're on Windows 10, OggDude's working on some known issues with Windows 10 compatibility.

Do you have .NET 4.6 installed? Cleared your cache?

try running it in windows 7 compatibility mode and as admin.

I really want to be able to use this BUT the zip file contains a malware trojan that my 360 antivirus just picked up so I'm not opening it. Is there a clean version?

My antivirus picked up that it was from an uncertified source, it didn't say anything about a Malware trojan. I'm using Symantic's "Norton" antivirus.

Looks like OggDude has been inactive for a Month. It sounds like he's been crazy busy.

This is what my 360 antivirus throws up when it sees the zip file:

virus.PNG

So generic malware identified by a heuristic, rather than actual malware.

Unfortunately false positive rate on these is very high.

Trend Micro Maximum Security finds nothing wrong with it when I download.

OK - well better to be safe than sorry. Just thought I'd let people know.

also as a general rule use something other than Norton. It is a rescource hog.

How does this character generator handle large creatures, specifically those exceeding Silhouette 2 and that are usually represented by ship-like stats?

Silhouette of a PC isn’t really a factor, except in environmental things where the GM makes it a factor, and that’s entirely outside of the purview of a tool like this.

NPCs that are that large also aren’t a problem, you just create them with the GM tools like you’d create any other NPC, and you give them a larger Silhouette. Again, it doesn’t really factor into anything until the GM decides it does, and then it’s up to the GM to decide how to handle that.

Some creatures have ship-like stats, 'cause can be used as vehicle (cfr Stay on Target)

I tried using the gm tool to create "new vehicle" named "riding dewback" "riding ruping" etc.

Main problem is those beasts will have soak and woun threshold rather than armor and hull trauma, and here the chargen does'nt give good results. So long, i deleted those entries and generated new npc nad put speed and handling in description...

also as a general rule use something other than Norton. It is a rescource hog.

Norton has never caused me any resource problems (I only buy hp Pavillion laptops) and i've never gotten a virus/malware that I know of while it's been installed, whereas McCafe has let some viruses/mal ware sneak onto my wife's laptop before it got detected as a running process. In case it makes a difference to anyone, Sandia National Laboratories provides a "free" subscription to Symantec/Norton antivirus (because they don't want employees home computers infecting company computers when they log in remotely)

Norton is no where near as good as it used to be. But I don't run anything other than windows defender as avoiding viruses is more of a behavior thing than an antivirus thing.

Has anyone done up the Sentry tree yet? Or the Manipulate force power?

Oggdude has not been online in over a month. Hope all is ok with him.
